Default Why minimum level to use tomes?

If a new player starts the game (yes I have a friend that did) and he makes an artificer (I know one that did) and he buys the +6 supreme tome (again I know someone that did) why make them wait til...what...24 to use the tome? We already only get certain stat bonuses as we level up so whats the point? Let the new player use the new sparkly supreme tome at lvl 1 so he can start enjoying the bonuses as he levels. As it is he has to wait til he is 24 or so before he can even use it. So if he wants to TR he can't if he wants to take advantage of the tome.

    This seems so stupid.

Why you can't use a stat or skill tome at lvl 1 and then let it be used as you level up is beyond me.

Yes, particularly because it was a store item. Tomes of all types should probably be changed so that you can eat them at any level, but make it very clear that the bonuses only come into play at the certain levels.

As well, the character sheet should show the top tier of the tome types you've used, but that's for a character sheet pass to handle.
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.

you are asking for 6 sets of 6 books that can be eaten at the appropriate levels. I betchya that's how it would be implemented.

You are the one choosing not to play alts.

Casual player now investing way less than I used to into the game, playing 1-3 months at a time and still want nothing to do with Reaper. #improvepuggrouping#alldifficultiesmatter

FYI, the +6 tome can be eaten at level 23, and you don't have to TR at level 20, so -- as-is currently with the game we have, this player/friend of yours can grind out levels to 23, eat the tome, and then TR for the first time back to level 1.

That's not the point. Yes he can grind to 23...but give me 1 good reason he should have to? The stat bonuses from Tomes are already set to happen at certain levels. Sure make the +6 wait til 23 but if a new player at lvl 1 wants to spend 5k TP's to buy a +6 Supreme Tome why in the world would you make him wait til 23 to use it? This player is spending real money to get this item...he is making a big investment into the game...and this could very well be his first toon so he is effectively screwed til he "grinds" to 23.

Yes I know it has always been set up obviously but my point is...Why?

Make the store bought tomes useable at any level but still only come into effect at the same levels.

Hell even the dropped tomes should be useable at any level as the effect still waits til the right level to start working so again...why?

Playing advocate for the devil I would say:

    1. Because Turbine is making money with the hamster wheel of reincarnation
    2. Because the time they make you be able to eat a tome before the threshold level (e.g. at lvl 1) would bring a lot of bug reports of players that would expect to have the +6 right away from the start.
    3. Because (at least in the past) you weren't even able to even buy tomes or hearts from the store that your character not apply to (e.g. minimum level restrictions)
    4. Because it is written in the description it has a minimum level
    5. Because changing the 'minimum level' definition of the tome would probably totally mess up other things that have a ML
    * We have collectable bags, mind you, even hireling folders, but can I have that 6-pack for my potions please?
    * Having already a past life on the dieng EU servers, I rerolled here and started from scratch as I like the game and the community, so lets see what awaits me here

No need for multiple books. They already have the "apply bonuses as you level up"-mechanic in place. Just make it work the same way it already works for TRs.
