Looking for caster FvS build

Hi,

I'm looking for caster FvS build. Would be 3rd lifer, with sorc and wiz past lives. Got all classes and races, I prefer to be fleshie and pure, but if it's not possible the MC is not out of the picture. Got some good/decent gear for it, especially for light damage. Don't mind if I have to melee my way up to lvl 12 to get BB or being a healer. It's going to be static group where I'm playing with this toon and we are going to start at level 1. ED would be Exalted Angel, with Energy Burst twisted, also Ruin and Hellball would be epic feat and ED feat. I would be extremely thankful if somebody would point me right direction

DC caster or Light caster?

This will effect whether you have max Wisdom or max Charisma (or Con). I think this is basically the only decision you have to really decide on.

DC based

Again, this page has a very basic DC caster (Evocation). The Wiz past life may be better than the Greater Spell Pen feat taken at 18(?) but other than that it's a pretty simple build. Someone may comment on a better Feat selection/order for a 36 pt build but as long as you get the basics covered.

Con - Max + Level ups
Int - Enough to get Concentration, Spellcraft, Heal, 1.0 Tumble, and 1.0 Perform. Jump, if anything extra.
Chr - Remaining

Maximize
Empower
Quicken
Mental Toughness
Improved MT
PL: Wizard (or Sorc); Honestly not sure
Toughness
Epic Toughness

Basically jump around casting Beams of Light
Dwarf/Human was a common choice for this build "back in the day"

I feel Wis based is stronger than Cha or Con. Please feel free to enlighten me if I am missing anything:

Con Based: Some HP
Cha Based: Better DC on Energy Burst and Hell Ball
Wis Based: Better DC on Holy Smite (Blindness), Soundburst (+50% damage), Implosion, ability to have decent DCs on other useful schools, necro (Slay Living, Destruction), enchant (Gtr Command), conj (Cometfall), etc.

Seems to me, a Wis Based, Evo Focused FvS or Clr is the best option.

For a solid build based on what you have stated, unless you are really sold on FvS for PL or another reason is:

Go Sun Elf 17 Cleric/3 FvS.

Str) 8
Dex) 12
Con) 14
Int) 10
Wis) 18 <- all level ups here
Cha) 14

1) Maximize
3) PL: Wiz
6) Empower
9) Heighten
12) Quicken
15) SF: Evo
18) GSF: Evo
21) Gtr Wis
24) Gtr Wis
ED1) Spell Power Light
ED2) Hell Ball
27) Ruin

Enhancements:

Get Shield of Condemnation, Get DD Slas and Evo boosts, Get DD light power boosts and crits, Get Sun Elf light Spell Power and Fey Energy Tap, and Profit.

Spamming DPS with DCs, there is no need to compromise and make a choice between the two.

Gotcha. I have to say right now a Cleric light spammer has a FvS beat hands down. I have always loved the FvS class, but I can't deny facts. A FvS can make a great DC caster OR a light spammer whereas a Cleric can do both. It doesn't matter if a Cleric has less SP when you are spamming full meta'd light spells at 2-7 SP. So you can forget all those mana feats, take DC feats and BOOM! Cleric wins.

Thanks guys for the replies. Why Fvs over cleric? I like FvS more, I've never been fond of clerics, they have a better spell selection, healing aura and so on. I don't know what it is, but FvS, there's just something that makes me like the class so much. I was looking Hellyzabeth's Ghostriker build (fvs/pld 16/4), and that one seems pretty good. And now Ambitious posts his Violence Favored build, thank you for that liked that one too, and now I have to just decide which way to go . Be pure or splash to pld, currently I'm leveling EA to top and collecting more stuff, which help me to level up.

@Ambitious how do you level up, are you using melee or just use those spells what you have on level?

I will be honest: Not having access to epic destinies (meaning you are below lvl 20) is very painful, because I rely heavily on SLA. Energy Burst, Avenging Light, Sunbolt, Divine Wrath.
If you are in the heroic bracket, then team up. you won't be able to do much alone. Bladebarrier, divine punishment and searing light will deal some damage, but you will be behind every other class dps wise.

Doing Epic lives is pretty easy for most spheres. Go draconic for arcane, shiradi for primal and martial sucks really hard.

Going melee in heroic sure is an option, but be prepared to use a lesser heart of wood. But maybe you can get those nasty martial sphere lives out of the way, while you are melee spec. Then, when you do an epic reincarnation, you get that lesser reincarnation for free.

Yes, I have been running a cha-based favored soul on and off again since shortly after U14 when I saw all the ED goodness. I ran 16fvs/ 2 pal/2 monk for a long time and now that it seems DG won't be nerfed I am looking at 16 fvs / 3 Pal / 1 fighter or 20 FVS. The great thing about pure FVS is you get the extra SLA.

It sucks for heroic leveling which is I always tell people go with an evoker build and then etr into a cha-build if you want to go that way.

When I read some of the comments about cha-based favored souls I think these people either never played one or never played one properly.

I play a Light based nuker/ Caster FvS. It is a riot. I havent perfected it yet and havent run EE solos higher than wheeloon yet. But it is great fun none the less.

With Reborn in Light active I am right around 700 light spell power. Took all Evo Feats for Imposion fun and sprinkle with mass frog
