Default New quest to save a unicorn

I was thinking of a new quest idea. It goes something like this.
I was thinking evil wizard or something caught a unicorn and imprisoned it while harnessing its magical abilities or something. Your mission is to free it. Unicorns were very chaotic and the symbol of independent freedom. So an imprisoned one, would be very troubling to it and all of your chaotic good types especially. They had the ability to do small dimension door type teleports. So maybe the wizard is harnessing that ability and some healing abilities or something from it. I imagined unlocking the magical barrier that imprisons the unicorn, and unicorn shaking itself off like a wet dog. But instead of water droplets it would shake off rainbow droplets. The unicorn horn would then glow rainbow colors when realised and about to use its magic and teleport itself away off in safe distance from everyone when saved. A message pops up with a message of gratitude in the form of telepathy from the unicorn thanking you for saving it.
I think they live in magical forests so a new area might have to be created as well.
If you made the evil wizard lawful evil (because the unicorn is chaotic good...), it would appeal to druids who want to restore balance in the world by setting it free as well.
By the way, a unicorn pet would be a great idea too.

We discussed a unicorn pet ('Uni') in an earlier thread about new cosmetic pets. I would like to see Uni in the game, especially for my Barbarian.

I would have to find a way to prevent that abomination the barb with the pet unicorn ruined a otherwise excellent d&d cartoon

Unicorns only look nice. Its a glamor they cast, and like anything else that's fey, you just can't trust it. Underneath that sparkly smooth veneer they are spikey, bitey, and mostly stupid beasts. I mean what do they do with those virgins they keep taking off for rides?

Plus no-one loves them because they have no symmetry which is against the natural order. They're like the cyclopses of the deer world, or the narwhals of the horse world: rare, inbred, no friends and worse, poor eating.

The only thing good about them is that they give rainbows a purpose: you should only ever strangle unicorns with rainbows, or it spoils what poor flavour they have in the first place.

...Still, as quest ideas go, its not a bad one.

    WEEEEEEEEEEELLLLL...

Four and twenty virgins came down from Inverness
And when the night was over there were four and twenty less!
Singing "Balls to you father, backs against the wall,
If you can't get laid a on Saturday night you can't get laid at all".

Blah, Uni tastes like a cross between sea water and shaving cream.

I'd support any other type of sushi as a pet, however.
BONGO FURY - Ghallanda - Thingfish - Wizard, Diuni - Ninja, Gheale - Angel, Dullknife - Tank, Noodlefish - Gimp, Jaquaby - Treacherous and other gimps.

Dooooooooooo Virgins taste better than those who are not?
Are they salty or sweet or more juicy or what?
Do you savour them slow, gulp them down on the spot?
Do virgins taste better than those who are not?*

    Happy New Year all!

    Default What about the loot?

What about the loot? You could have a cool unicorn hair belt that gives dimension door 1x per day. Or a short sword that glows rainbow colors called Unicorn Horn and does Chaotic damage and maybe with an elite version or an upgrade version does chaotic and good damage or damage against magical beasts. All sorts of good ideas just in terms of loot even if you do not like the unicorn.

I'm pretty sure the only association of Unicorns with Rainbows came from My Little Pony, so we shouldn't perpetuate that one (unless it's for the aforementioned purpose of strangling them).

That said, all this talk of unicorns has led me to starting thinking up ways to introduce one or more into my Pathfinder game. Im sure I can find a way to mess with my players using unicorns, I just need to think about it a bit more. Anyway - thanks for the inspiration

Thanks for the post. However if you look up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon...28TV_series%29, you will see where I was drawing the inspiration.

Uni, the Unicorn (vocal effects provided by Frank Welker): Uni is Bobby's pet, a baby unicorn, which Bobby discovers in the first episode and retains as his companion throughout the show. She has the ability to speak, though her words are not quite discernible; she usually is heard echoing Bobby when she agrees to his opinions. As seen in the episode "Valley of the Unicorns", Uni also possesses the potential for the natural unicorn ability to teleport once a day, and has accessed this power through tremendous concentration and effort; it is intimated that she is still too young to use this ability regularly.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicorn...s_%26_Dragons)

    Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st edition (1977-1988)[edit]
The unicorn appears in the first edition Monster Manual (1977),[2] where it is described as dwelling in temperate woodlands; this chaotic good creature shuns contact with nearly all creatures.

Acquiring of Unicorns can be hazardous to one's sanity - especially Unicorns named Eleanor.

    Good one!

On another subject. I am quite sad that people had to bring the historical mythological virginity symbolism into this. It was not my intention. And as resentful and ashamed that it happened, I have to concede that I should have considered that first before I posted the idea.
