Default Looking for help on a Pali build please!

Ok, to start off, got a few rules..

    Rule #1:... NO MONKS
Rule #2:... Need Zeal and Holy Sword
    Rule #3:... NO MONKS
    Rule #4:... Two Weapon Fighter
    Rule #5:... NO MONKS
Rule #6:... 1 lvl Fighter for Heavy Armor proficiency & a feat for Dwarven Waraxes (plus shields if things get ugly and I need to tank up)
    Rule #7:... NO MONKS
Rule #8:... 4 lvls Ranger for skill points and some badly needed auto feats for TWF (and some help with ranged)
    Rule #9:... NO MONKS
    Rule #10:... Completionist

Ok, so I figure go Drow... the boost to Dex, Int, and Cha, along with the Spell Resistance makes it a no brainer. Add Ambidexterity on top of it and its a sure deal. Just need help on the stats and when to take which feats. Figured Harpers with Int to hit/dam and 'Know the Angles' is just icing on the cake.

If someone can help me work out the nitty gritty details would be much obliged.. thanks! Basically want to be a DPS monster with excellent survivability.

PS: In case I failed to mention it earlier.. NO MONKS!

Have Colors of the Queen 3x & Doublestrike 2x

Anyways, running with +6 tomes across the board & have the following past lives:

    Artificer 3x
    Barbarian 3x
Bard 2X (working on 3rd now)
    Cleric 1x
    Druid 1x
    Favored Soul 1x
    Fighter 3x
    Monk 1x
    Paladin 3x
    Ranger 3x
    Rogue 3x
    Sorcerer 1x
    Wizard 1x

4 levels of Ranger is only going to net you one auto granted TWF feat and set you just shy of manyshot... I say go 6 levels of Ranger or stay home.

Heavy Armor and general Shield proficiency are auto granted with Paladin levels - so what you really need are feat slots.

You ruled out Monk, so I'm thinking your best go is 4 fighter levels. That makes 6 feats from 16 levels of Pally and 5 more from the 4 fighter levels (6 if you go human) for a total of 11 feats if Drow or 12 if Human.

You have to take a deity feat at your first paladin level so we have 10/11 feats to work with and you want to take 1 feat for D.Axes and 1 feat for Completionist leaving us with 8/9 feats: Drow/Human

Pally melee must have feats are:

    1. PA or Precision
    2. 3 in your fighting style... in this case TWF
    3. IC: Slashing

(Also, you'll want CleavesX2 if you don't plan to invest in KotC tree for the cleaves there - which you should)

No doubt you will dump Wis so FoP for will saves is highly desirable

Emp Healing and a meta magic - either Extend or Quicken Spell ( or both) is quite nice in higher heroics and epics

That puts us at 11 feats with no defensive feats like Shield Mastery, Shield Bash or ISM

If you go Human you could work in Shield Bash since Shielding will be limited.

I dont think you could work that out with just 4 Ranger levels even with one auto granted TWF feat...

How firm on Ranger levels are you?

EDIT: Having said all that I see unbongwah has worked out a pretty nice Drow 15 Paladin/5 Ranger option: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...yers-%28U23%29

What about level 6 monk, you'll get shadow veil and other goodies...

You can just make a standard 20 BF THF paladin and toss a nightforge spike with WW twisted when you want some ranged dps. There are speed soft caps to ranged/thrown dps, so WW will be good enough, and you can drop it and you still have a full power pali. Maybe invest 1 feat into IC:Thrown.

The 14/6 Pal/Rgr version is something very nice that I would try.
It gives you auto granted TWF feats, MS and let you pick Dance of Death (along with haste boost, is a huge boost to dps when you surrounded by mobs).

15/5 is better melee DPS (Zeal); 14/6 gives you more flexibility with feats (and lvl 6 rgr cores, if you want any).

This looks amazing.. but I don't think Improved Mage Armor work with heavy armor like full plate.. so not sure what the +10% AC will be.. Also.. why Follower of the Sovereign Host? Going to definitely give this build a run.. SO much thanks

I'm not sure giving up Zeal is worth it to take the single Wiz Level. IIRC, Mage Armor does NOT stack with Heavy Armor. Eldritch Strike is just OK...not great IMO.

FYI...the strongest character in my stable right now is my human pure paladin (THF).
Leader of Legion of Eberron on Cannith.

    Characters: Loromir & Baldomir....among others.

I think 15 Pali (this build) lets me have to 4th lvl spells, Zeal and Holy Sword... I think the biggest offer he had in the wiz lvl was for Echos of Power, but I don't think healing or SP will ever be an issue (I have both a Ring of Sell Storing AND an Epic Ring of Spell Storing, so can swap them in at any time.)

My wanting a Fighter lvl was so I could have Tower Shield Proficiency with the Heavy Armor, in case I needed to tank up. It would also let me jump to my flavor Scimitars when needed, as it gives me every melee proficiency.... nice to have options. Something I just don't understand.. is Drow gives enhancements for Scimitars, but not proficiency... need a class for that . If they would just give Drow Khopesh/Scimitar/Shuriken.. I am absolutely POSITIVE there would be a huge uptick in Drow usage.

Did test on lev 7 test pally
    AC
    10 base
    2 dex
    15 armor
    7 shield
    1 deflection
    8 misc
    3 feat
    total 46 10% of that is 4.6
total AC with improved Mage armor came to 51
    so it works
