    Default Completionist build

Hey Kent! Finally made it to completionist and I am working on my past lives. I currently have +5 tomes, completionist feat and dwarf, human and drow racial past lives.

What I am looking for is to use the completionist feat somehow into this build idea while getting another racial PL that i dont have. I would use the Radiant Bard you made for me before as I love that build, but being melee as a bard seems a bit to squishy and my monks are have a hard time in reaper.

I would like to be a cleric or at least cleric levels (Can be multiclassed) with full plate but with a twist. Good DPS with fast single handed weapon, Shield for tankiness and the kicker...an Aura or Burst that is insane. I want to focus all my healing power in to aura and burst or in otherwords full blown AoE healing. Blade Barrier would be cool or something else that make the cleric DPS'ish but really a focus on AoE Healing.

My main idea on this is to help in reaper content. It seems everything is reaper now a days and healing is brutal so passive healing is suggested so I can focus on other tasks like tanking or frontline fighting. To be a fount of healing with enough DPS to kill some mobs would be nice. Wisdom to DMG?

I would like to take this build into epics to 30 as well and see if I can bring in Divine Wrath with massive results. When in epics I am thinking of taking the destiny pieces to combine with divine wrath to ensure I am a fount of healing for my team makes when they are near me as well as total pain for the enemy when they are near me as well.

    Thanks in advanced.

Default Wizard Greatsword Kensei for Havik_Stormcrow

I am a player returning after a 2 year hiatus and was playing around with the character planner for a WF toon I have presently at his 3rd life. Currently he was a barbarian and paladin great sword user; hence I have a collection of great swords. No matter what I try on paper it doesn't look like a decent build but I would like to run at least r1's solo. I bought him the supreme +6 tome. I want him to be able to have a good dps but able to tank if need be. I know you can't have it both ways but I'd like to try. I was leaning toward monk over rogue so I could use Kensai's t6 ability to remain centered with great swords, yet whatever you suggest will be helpful. You helped me out with an old AA build years ago (I think 2011) and would appreciate your help again if you could.

    Thank you,

    Havik
in the end I think you are better going for AC,DRR then evasion as you are splitting Stats as it is to be a melee Wiz but you still want that solo capable toon so just one lev of rogue and Adamantine Body at lev 15 by then you can zero out your ASF. As you are warforged & can get another +3 to tac DCs so got stunning blow your trip should work well too so take advantage of that to slow the mobs when mobbed

    Default Vistani Assassin For flute136

So basically its a 18rogue2monk. t5 assassin + lv18core. and t3-4 vistani. Dex to dmg/hit with monk storm stance. I want to play it like an assassin, with all the skills rogues use.
I was putting it in character builder but got stumped even at the stats section because iirc bluff is charisma stat, and wisdom is spot/listen. I never played a heavily invested into rogue toon like this before so im not sure what i can skip.

So I'm a 36 point build, supreme +6 tome. 3 pl in ranger, monk, pally, rogue(i did some rogue archers like 6 levels),fighter. 1 pl in barb and fvs soon. All archers so never played a pure melee before if that matters.

If i ignored the skills i mentioned i would of done 10str 18dex 14con 16int 12wis 10cha. But i doubt my bluff will be very effective like that?
Also i can craft any cannith crafting item for myself, so i can get gear that really helps it if thats all id need.

I did this as a Shadar-Kai but will work same stats as a Halfling if you want to level him but I like Starting with Assassinate
Improved Feint, Shiv, & Assassin's Trick will be your friends as all will let you get BS dam even when you have agro. Assassin's Trick will even let you BS things you normally can't like undead and such. don't worry about your low starting Cha bluff DCs are surprisingly low I use bluff, Improved Feint, and Shiv, all the time and with a cha augment slotted (so no need for best Cha item you can get), and a good bluff Item it is almost no fail I never spend build points on Cha for my Assassin so should be fine. same goes for wis and spot as spot DCs way lower then Search.
P.S. this build was easy as I did not have to build it for you It was going to be my next life on my Assassin that was built before you could use Dex for Assassinate. I just have not got to it as I have alot of toons going

As always if you have any ?'s feel free to ask

    Hello!

I am a returning player and would love a new build. I would really love an unarmed monk build. I have access to 34 point builds, no past lives. I could probably afford 2 +2 tomes as well. I am not against multiclassing, but if it is multiclassed, I would prefer 16 or more levels of monk. I think dex focus over strength as well. Beyond that, I am fine with everything else. I have not played in about 2 years so I wouldn't have any access to newer content. Thanks!

    Default 2015 build update

Kent, could you look at a build for me and maybe update it? I'm going into my first TR and this looks like it may fit what I'm trying to do.

I'm TRing a halfling, 32 pt first life monk with a +2 strength tome back to halfling ranger and would like to stay pure ranger. CC is pretty much my thing. But the date on the build is from 2015.

SO this is my updated build for you as a halfling if you have any ? feel free to ask like why I chose different here and there most should be self explanatory. like say Scion of the Feywild at 30 yes a little less damage but +4 enchant DC and +20 heal Amp I think is worth it but you could still go Scion of Air but in the world of reaper CC DC and heal amp wins IMO

Waiting for 18 to take DM is... very late. Shot on the run is a weak Feat - no problem w/ to-hit, so only gives +3 ranged power - nothing better?

For any Trapper, the key is skills - piling all your Fighter Levels at the end makes it (nearly?) impossible to catch up and keep your core skills (Spot, Search, DD) at max. Even w/ +7 Int Tome, he'll be struggling keep those maxed at 18. Take the time to do the skills, see how it works (or doesn't).

Usually, Fighter Levels are spread out, both to allow skills to catch up, but also to grab key Feats at the earliest cutpoint possible. Try spreading them out a bit more.

I was tempted to point out that the 2nd level of Rogue adds nothing, but Ranger 13 adds practically nothing as well (+15 spell points - that's it), and Rog does add a Ref ST bump. So, for that plus Evasion 5 levels earlier, yeah, that works.

    Thank you for answering;
Dm and the shoot on the run are there just cause at some point I didn't know what to pick and displacement is good maybe is better earlier.
Shoot is basically just for the melee power could try out a metamagic for the heals?

The level arrangement I made was to trying to maximize the feat I get by the free ranger feat and the one I can get earlier.
I'll try more combinations. And also I will make up with the skills even if I have an outdated builder and the level of apply tones is the old ones.

For the 2 rogue level yes my thought was that 13 ranger adds nothing and I love evading.

    Default Dragonborn Druid Build

    Hey Kent,

I've been out of the game for about 5 years. Been looking for something new and thought a dragonborn druid sounded like fun to play. Do you think you can make me a viable 32 point build dragonborn pure druid? I'd like to specialize in fire spells. Only have +2 WIS and CHA, and +1 CON, STR, and INT tomes. I will probably do mostly soloing with hirelings.

    Thanks!

Dodge is a 3% miss chance, Displacement is 50%. And Evasion... you see lightning bolts in the Harbor 2's on Elite, so you can't have that "too early". Meanwhile, Precision cuts Fort by 25% - but you don't see a whole lot of Fort until later.

    So I'd suggest...

First, since you are not taking any Fighter trees, we don't "need" Fighter 6 - 4 is enough, and that gets us Ranger 14, which gets us... Freedom of Movement (plus another Lvl 1 - Merfolk's?). Not until Lvl 20, but it'll help while farming those tokens.

But, a lot of TR's are really built to Level 18, so... I've got 2 diff skill progressions below, 1 for Fighter 6 (that gives us Extend at 18), and one without. Split the diff re Level 18 goals if you want.

Either way... we dump Int and Concentration, and take Quicken for no-fail heals, bumping that Str up to 10. (That won't help w/ scroll use in later levels, so if you hate it, shift it back, np.)

Delay Dodge and Mobility. Take the DM Level 3 (Invis is an "easy button" early on anyway), even tho' you won't have the AP for full Displacement until later. Then Beeline to Ranger 4 for Precise Shot and your first spell (CLW?) at Char Lvl 5.

Then get that Precision at Level 6, once you need it, and grab Evasion right after, Character Level 7, tyvm.

Then straight to Rgr 6 for Manyshot at Character level 9, bam - and then you can start playing around w/ bonus Fighter feats. (This gives you Improved Critical 2 levels earlier than your proposed plan.)

(You've done PL's before - ever w/ a starting Str 8? I find it a real pain, so I'd go at least 10 Str, dropping Wis to 10 if I have to, but ymmv.)

If you prefer, put any/all Swim (and additional Open Lock?) ranks into Balance. I honestly don't know if only 4 ranks will help or not after low-levels, but Balance is a Dex skill, so... maybe???

My only. Concern would be about improved precise shot. I never done ranger so is 16 or 18 too late to get it? In the build I made it was taken at 12 does it make really difference?

About strength issues I just have played a life with a monk and 8 str so I have had some struggle mostly cause of enfeeblemt ray but I managed that with yugo pots and keeping my pocket empty till I get +6 item.
I must ask also if for reaper purpose is better having higher dps so high dex or having higher dc?

IPS is the only "area effect" attack that a ranged has, and can be a significant boost against a crowd, so, yes, it can make a diff during those levels.

If you want IPS earlier, simply swap it in for Dodge at Level 12, and bump everything else down 3 levels (or so), done.

If you want, once you get IPS from Ranger 11, you can go back and use your free Feat swap and replace your Level 12 Feat - probably w/ Empower Healing.

    Default Cleric of Vol

Hi Kent, i've really enjoyed utilizing your builds to progress towards completionist. I'm on Cleric life now with only druid to go. Before i get there, i want to complete my three cleric lives before moving on. For my second cleric life, i was interested in the cleric of vol post you had with traps. You mentioned in it exchanging rogue levels for fighter. i've played around in char generator but how would you do it? Obviously human, but when would you take fighter levels? What fighter enhancements? I want it to hit harder but not as hard as the fvs splash.

FYI, i have 36 pt build, +8 tome in all stats, iconic past lives and past lives in every class but druid (some multiple but wont list).

Thank you for the builds and any advise you can give on this one. Keep up the great work!

I suggest that, if you have someone do the work for you, and then say "Oh, changed my mind!" - that you do the work yourself on this one.

    But that's just one suggestion.

(I actually have another, but it'd get me forum-banned.) ;D

Lol hope you are not offended man I appreciate d your job I didn't know the update was coming that fast and that tree would came out!
you must also understand that it is a great new thing to consider!

Also it could be fun to therycraft with ppl that understand more of me about how this new thing can influence a given build!

I guess I will follow both your explicit suggestion and the implicit one!

Again I hope you are not offended it was not mine intention to screw you work!

I have already made a new build following your suggestion with the 14/4\2 that is a great split only thing I need to reconsider are the build point and the AP distribution!

    Default Trap ranged build

Hello kent, I was looking for a trap ranged buld that can disable traps and rely on vorpal ranged weapons for damage.
Right now I play cleric and im about to do my first TR if that helps.
I was thinking about 18/2 ranger/rog or 18/2 Atri/rog but I don't know the game well enough to decide which will be better for me.
    Thank you!

Nothing wrong w/ a pure Arti - great DPS, good survivability, spells, lots of bells and whistles, etc etc. Splash Rogue for Evasion, Barb for faster kiting, etc etc.

Or, for Ranger, take this, and make it Arti - that will give you crossbows, which are superior to bows, esp when Vorpal (and/or w/ other % enchantments, like "Tendon Slice" or "of Deception").

You can take a 2nd level of Arti in place of Fighter for Rune Arm imbues (but earlier, pro'ly Level 6, after Ranger's Precise Shot), or replace Fighter w/ Barb for faster kiting (and some Jump?). The Fighter level is, imo, unnecessary - a LOT of feats already w/o it. But each has its proponents, there is no single "right" choice except re personal preference.

Race can be tweaked to suit too - swap for Human DM of passage for DDoor, Halfling for better self-healing, Gnome for Color Spray madness, whatever.
