    Default Best Heavy Armor

What is the best fairly easily obtained heavy armor? Not crafted either I hate crafting more than I hate the realms

Randomly generated flurry planeforged plate? Doublestrike on armor slot, and usual heavy armor goodies.

Shadow Dragonplate is better, of course, but you need to get 50 shadow dragon scales, plus more 50 for the DR buff. Unless you run Deathwyrm all the time, it may take some time to get them.

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Kensai, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.

You do realize that is both Realms & Crafting.

All your anti-Realms huffing and puffing from here on out is null & void. You have gone to the dark side and become one with the Realms.

From Cannith Challenges, Epic Mournlode Fullplate is no slouch at all. It's strongly competitive all the way up to Thunderforged stuff, and you could even just use it endlessly, or migrate over to ENecro heavy afterward.

At some points, Epic Red Dragonplate, or Firebreak halfplate can be situationally superior.

Hoping to be one and done its not my fault the best armor is realms at least I can ignore eliminster and the entire rewlms story line on that character and it's not the heavy grinding crafting I don't mind shroud or stone of change crafting. If there was any other way I would do it for the armor like buying a complete set or better armor

For a melee build, my epic upgrade path would be PD Armor -> EotSQ or Restored -craft Plate -> flawless dragonplate -> Shadow Guardian

My epic armor path is similar, but I stick with the heroic black dragonplate all the way until level 25. Forget about the PDK armor, that 5% bonus damage from the heroic dragonplate is way better than anything the PDK armor offers. I then go to flawless dragonplate at 25 and shadow dragonplate at level 28 when running epic elite. If I'm not running epic elite I switch back to the flawless black dragonplate for the extra 5% damage. Unless you're running epic elite you shouldn't need the DR from the shadow dragon plate.

But yes, the shadow dragon plate is hands down the best heavy armor in the game for epic elites. Can't pass up that DR.

Bolded the lol. I mean you can't really swap out armor in a fight.

I would say flawless black dragonplate plus (EE) black dragon helm for max DPS; Shadow Guardian for max survivability.

Sure, but if you were doing EE thunderpeaks and you weren't tanking, you might think the fire absorption is worth giving up the DR, for example.

That is a fairly big handicap you're giving yourself.

You'll just have to hope some decent loot gen armor drops or go grind the E Orchard quests and cross your fingers that some of the named armor drops.

Some of it is really quite good.
