Default We are now taking applications for the 2015 DDO Players Council!

UPDATE: We've emailed applicants who have been accepted to the 2015 DDO Players Council! Check your email, and perhaps your spam folder (just to be safe.)

We are now taking applications for the 2015 DDO Players Council! What is the Player's Council? Read more and consider an application!

Last year's Council was really interesting, and included a very diverse set of voices from across the DDO community. We think both the DDO dev team as well as Council members enjoyed the experience. The Council gets an early look at upcoming game changes, typically in the form of private forum posts and surveys, and provides insight that helps inform our decision-making process.

We will be taking applications through Sunday, January 25th. The goal is to get the new Council seated within a few weeks after that.

Click here to read more about the DDO Players Council, and to find the application!

Click here to read our FAQ and NDA!

Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks, and good luck!

    Thumbs up Apply

Just wanted to chime in to ALL my fellow players, put your app in.

I think with a year under their belt, Cordovan and the devs will make the PC better utilized this year. The current PC has been making recommendations for that purpose already.

If you are a "fanbois" - you'll enjoy it.

If you radiate more from the nether realms - put your coppers where your mouth is and apply, and put in constructive feedback.

If you are somewhere in between - don't doubt that you can have an impact. We did this year and you can too.

    We want YOU!

Especially, we want a wide variety of players. So if you think you are the kind of player we might not want to hear from, that probably means we really want to hear from you!

Diversity, Diversity, Diversity!!! This breadth of the diversity in player styles was excellent this past year. Don't think you shouldn't apply because of your play-style!!

"Members of the press or those acting in a journalistic/editorial capacity are not eligible to participate on the council."

Does this mean journalism in general or in a DDO and/or MMORPG capacity? I have a BA in creative writing and journalism, and have a Saturday blurb column in a local newspaper dealing with popular culture (including video games, books, movies, etc) as well as having held various jobs in a writing/journalism field, so I was wondering about the implications of said statement.

Good luck to everyone submitting their applications!

I think for the most part the hubby enjoyed being part of it but some days I think it was the bourbon that helped ^^

I would apply but the notice I saw said something about not having forum points. I have a bunch from when the Kommunity Kobold was handing them out like candy in 2007 so I guess I cannot apply. Oh well... Turbine's loss. Funny I am still here as a VIP and KK is long gone, yet the points remain forever. Yes, I still have points from 2007 and none since. I think maybe it is time to revisit dropping points that are that old. Older than most folks that are even working on this game at Turbine.

Should be fine. The main point of the restriction is to limit participation of folks who write about DDO for a commercial entity, in an official journalistic capacity, and would intend to use their time on the Council to get unreleased info.

As with last year, the existence of infractions does not prohibit you from applying or being accepted on the Council. If you have a history of abusive behavior towards others, including recent history, then that will be weighed as we consider the applicants.

I can only recommend everyone who wants to see a little deeper into the murky depths of DDO development, wants to have some influence on where the game is going, have some issue they personally feel should be addressed, simply enjoy DDO and have a little time left over to make the game even better, or...

    well, everyone, really

The Faq mentions that you will only be accepting active players who have been playing regularly within the previous six months, but what is Turbine's definition of regularly?

For example, I was playing almost everyday from July to September, but my play time was interrupted due to health issues which kept me from having access to an active internet connection for the first week or so of October. Played a little, then took time off to pursue other commitments. I played the day of Update 24, then didn't play again until the middle of January.

I would think that would exclude people similar to me from the "active player" list. Whether or not people like me would be considered a casual player, I don't know.

We're pretty lenient about the definition of "active". The main thing is we aren't looking for people who don't really play the game, but want to theorycraft, or people who used to play the game several years ago but no longer play today.

    Your time frame sounds fine.

And Maybe revisit the points from say... 7 years ago. How many people are still working on DDO from 2007? I would hope a few, but just saying.... a lot has changed. Maybe wipe the slate for some folks who were the victims of an aggressive campaign from long ago.
