Ok I'll start.

When the party wiped one toon would stay in while the others ressurected, buffed at airships and came back in fresh.



Since some of you are new or might have forgot this is before flavor toons ruled and everyone could do everything. Before difficulty streaks were so important and they ruined most of the raid gear with too much auction house power creep. When Bloodstones were awed at and most raids upto TOD were run on a regular basis. Before heroic was gimped in favor of epic content making 2/3rds of the game a ghost town. When parties needed a healer and waited forever for one to show up. When soloing and short manning was the exception instead of the norm.

Shield-wall in doorways. Bluff pulling. Kept a bunch of wooden clubs in my inventory to use against oozes.

Epic had ONE difficulty and a re-entry lockout. If the party wiped, someone released and logged on a different character to enter, get everyone raised, and complete.

People used MyDDO to examine people's gear before letting them in the party.

Making sure to have enough points in Jump so you can get over the front line melees and get to the casters first!

Wiping and re-Running raids for days, if not weeks before ANYONE completed them.

Shield walled a corner of the room off with melee while the caster(s) stood behind them and and magic missiled the boss in STK to death. He looked like a giant, but was a construct, with DR #/adamantine, which was not easy to find then.

The church and the cult. When I was new I tried to do this quest and decided I needed to save up for pots to even try.

and what happened, nothing of course, I didn't have a silver weapon. Did he kill me, nope, was it because i was a STRONG, nope.

It is because he is the most evil end boss in the game

I put up an LFM, need help, at boss, bring silver weapon, lol

some awesome paladin that said we was "passing by here anyway" dropped in and saved the day. I was still standing there dominated when he came to save the day.

Mm, that still happens actually. Last night in EE GOP, we wiped in the boss fight. It was no easy slog getting to that point either (the highest death count in the party was 33). One person held the instance while the rest repaired and reentered.

We would walk around the harbor aimlessly because we were permanently cursed, blinded and diseased!

Create a shield wall in front of the healers/caster when fighting the Demon Queen, that did nothing but shield block while the healer kept them alive and the ranged and caster toon tried (this word is stressed, she was hard back in the day) to kill her.

When the game was supposedly much harder 4 years ago I used to farm scrolls in echrono with no worry of dying.

My PM had a no-fail DC for CC and necromancy spells worked very well on all valid targets in epics. I didn't even need to take all the spell pen feats because I could get a no-fail spell pen from just past lifes. I crushed content using an overpowered build just like people do today. I would walk into an epic dungeon, wail, wipe out the entire room and maybe get a scroll. People complained how overpowered PMs were then and they were right.

I used to take out epic trash mobs with my "terror" weapon with no difficulty at all with my heal spec'd cleric in between heals. It didn't matter that I was doing like 25 damage - I just had to wait for the proc to go off. I used to watch people take down the toughest bosses in the game with their epic sword of shadow as if they were in the harbor.

No build I've had since U14 has been as dominant as that PM build was back in 2011 - none. There were overpowered builds before bard, paladin and barbarian buffs and guess what. Those OP builds are still better than any of the new bard, paladin and barbarian builds.

- Always ask if there were any new players in the quest, even simple 6 man jobs, and explain the quest if there were.

- Wait at the start for the majority to enter the quest before running off.

- Wait at the start for Buffs, even if you didn't really need them, to respect the Buffer and respect the party.

- Re-run pt 1 so the new party member could get the chain reward.

- Make sure everyone could make it through the trap before going to the next part.
