Unless maybe the intent is that you are harried (in both game terms and non-game terms) by crazy #s of monsters?

That would be a rather lame intent, wouldn't you agree?

Not necessarily, it has a rather cinematic effect in concept even if the effect is more just annoying and frustrating in implementation. I agree that I dislike getting harried just for spawning a fresh wave of bad guys with nothing else going on.

I understand it just fine, but that doesn't excuse a sloppy implementation of dungeon alert that occurs in DDO programmed mob wave spawns, or instance wide DA when a rogue player has created DA due to his own error.

    iirc that's called "fake difficulty"

ddo is based on that kind of challenge, cause the day brains were on sale, turbine was at home
psykopeta is finally baconpletionist because there isn't anything to delay it more - thelanis, where the gimps claim to be pros and noobs claim to be pros, no newbies allowed(unless they claim to be pros), we have enough drama w/o them. PS: I post only in the latest thread shown in main page, in the weird case u want something from me, feel free to send pm

I'd go further and say the quest needs to be "visited" by the Devs not revisited.

I get some older content not jibing with DA but the new stuff?

DA existed when they made that encounter. How did they not notice it is borked?

Well I think that is an annoying misuse for the Dungeon Alert system.

That thing was put in to annoy us so much we stop and kill for the sake of game performance.

The devs just throwing DA around in lieu of a proper encounter challenge seems pretty lame and, again, annoying.

And now you look ridiculous making baselss assumptions to support a poor point, I have a fiber optic connection. I was the first in my area to start using cable when it was available, until Time Warner bought my company and made it stupidly unstable. My computer is a high end gaming rig. And as I said, I haven't had lag since then. If you're still getting it, might want to look at your own computer and connection there.

I suspicion it makes more sense that the newer stuff is what is causing the problem. Dungeon assault coding was written years ago with a different dev team, it's possible there is a numeric 'top out' or some other coding quirk that triggers it in the old code, and with the bigger battles they are designing now they are probably getting bitten by something someone else wrote half a decade ago. And depending on how convoluting the programming code is, maybe not all that easy to find. Equally possible they have just been lazy about updating DA.

I don't have problems with lag I have an issue with DA.
You were the one complaining about lag and 15 minutes to get through the harbour and how DA was supposed fix server wide lag.

besides. I wasn't making any assumptions to contradictt your superior gaming system and glorious fiber internet.. just lightening the mood with some humor.. that you obviously didn't get..
The Commodore 64 was a 1980's pre PC system and was well outdated before the internet was even available... It wasn't ever capable of being used on the internet except by some after market hack.

I suspect if the Devs turned off DA and everyone ran through a quest w/o killing anything, with the game as it is now, the servers would just freeze and then explode taking out half of Massachusetts.

    Better to not risk it.
What about the hamsters?!?!?! Why doesn't anyone care about the hamsters running the servers!?!?!

This. DA in Belly of the Beast is silly, and unfun.
