I am getting a little tired by the noise coming out of some pockets that the game is too easy and just not challenging (QQ).
I personally never liked the increase to the various stats on equipment gear and weapons. The easy purchase of +5 tomes, augments, epic destiny stuff etc. just adds to power builds. Keeping most things at ML 20 while doing Epic content would have made it a tad more challenging (try penetrating some of them EE saves now) hehehehe. Heck all Thunderforged items should all be ML 28 regardless of tier.
The horse has truly bolted and the whole powercreep builds are here to stay.
I propose a power creep curse of sorts is imposed on us all. All characters should have a unique point value system introduced based on their gear and tomes used. Backpack will have all stored gear counted. Worn gear is also added to these points. Tomes are also added to score. All gear/tomes have assigned points. The more powerful it is the greater their point score (crafted items get a greater multiplier). Build points and TR benefits are exempt and hence not included in point score. Named equipment sets receive a discount to their points when actively worn together. Each quest had a point score range.
The curse kicks in as soon as these new character points exceed the quest points. The curse gets a little more severe (but is capped) if points exceed quest by say 20%.
1. The enemy champions scale in accordance to the total party points. Certain strong buffs/debuffs are added to them. At the highest capped curse all monsters are champions.
2. All bosses (includes existing named mini bosses) also receive an extra buff/debuff (something really nasty).
The XP for quest stays the same no matter how impossible it gets due to the curse kicking in.
The curse is addition to the current scaling system and is on top of the usual character level requirements for a quest.
The idea is for that character with dual wielding Greensteel with GS body gear will see itself penalised until say level 16-18 when vale quests begin. Thunderforged character are heavily penalised until say level 26.
Also make backpack inventory selection even more conscious (and maybe simpler now that you hoard less) than it is now.
Just an idea.
