Default I warn new players against buying Bank Slots from the DDO store.

Whenever you TR, you have a mess to deal with. Most of this is caused by your personal bank being dumped into the unsorted and laggy True Reincarnation Cache. There is a great way to avoid this - don't use your personal bank. If you must store things, mules are the way to go.

However, these problems could also be solved if the personal bank wasn't dumped into your TR Cache. Of course, to make this work, you'd need to keep your House Kundarak bank tabs. I know that that would make House Kundarak favor less useful, but lets be honest, many of the other favor items carry over already and players most play quests that are either good XP, or they specifically try and go for the 3,000 and 5,000 favor goals, in which case, individual patrons don't matter.

In short, change it so that your Personal Bank doesn't reset during true reincarnation. Thank you.

Having your bank tabs empty into your tr cache actually creates much more storage space, at least until you tr again.

I keep a lot of bound to account things in tr caches that i otherwise would have had to get rid of.

New players: mules are not the way to go, unless you enjoy logging in and out and maintaining a spreadsheet of what each mule has in their inventory. Bank slots are easily more convenient.

Well this game has the worst ui and inventory management in the galaxy.
The only thing that is gonna help with that is simply getting rid of all that hoarded junk, not getting more space.

It's like cleaning grandma's pantry once every two years, only brute force will make a difference.

    Default I must respectfully disagree.

I would agree that there are far more important things for a new player to buy than bank space, especially a new player on a budget. But bank space can be very valuable. My suggestion:

The shared bank (which is bank space) is something I do not regret paying for. It acts as a quick way to pass items back and forth between characters; it acts as more bank storage space; it lets you pass bound to account items to your other characters; it doesn't get empied when you TR (if that is such a pain for you).

If you are playing on a tight budget, mules are important because they save you paying for extra bank and backpack space. For these people, I suggest you focus on Coin Lord and House K favour quests on your first character. When you get enough favour, you should have plenty of backpack and bank space on that character. Use that character as your mule and start your second character.

If you are F2P, you need to focus on buying quest packs with the TP you earn (it isn't even worth it to get the shared bank for a long time).

If you have money (it doesn't take much), extra bank space can be worth the money once you have the expansions, races, classes, and quest packs that you want.

You're probably doing mules wrong. I have one mule for crafting items (like silver falchion blanks), one mule for caster lives, one for trapper lives, and one for heavy lives.

Do you need both the bank slots AND character slots for bound to account items? Seems like you're holding onto a lot of items that should be gotten rid of...

I use particular mul... er, I mean Designated Inventory Control Keepers to store different item types. A few hours play with each D-I-C-K to gain favor and inventory slots means plenty of storage and always knowing which one has what. You can't beat it for convenience.

    I have a mule for

    Epic gear
    Heroic gear
Weapons I use on current playing characters
    Weapons saved for eventual alts
    Armor
    Skill/stat tomes
    Miscellaneous

3 toons with max free bank and bag tabs that I quit playing. Rest are rolled with 1 bank tab and 3 bag tabs that are auto given to you.

I hate logging in and out when I need something and my shared bank is always full of stuff to pass to my bank toons. I keep what I will use on my characters in their cache to reduce the logging in/out but you only have limited space. I would give anything to get rid of bank toons for better inventory management.

You are the one choosing not to play alts.

    No thanks.
I have some TR's with toons that I TR'd to have stuff put into long term storage.
I have other TR's that keep tighter inventory because I am cycling TR's.
I bought all the bank space and shared bank space and all the backpack space so I would have room to move stuff around.

If I have a problem sorting my inventory between TR's then that is my problem to deal with.
It is up to me to find a place to put it or get rid of it.

After years of collecting I have many items that are not available anymore.. and they are mine.. all mine.. my precioussss...
Perhaps I have a little bit of Dragon Fever.

IF I had player housing it would probably look like...

    Agreed.

Plus why would a new player level a toon just to use as a mule?
