    Default My first response to Champions

    Now I've only played some low level quests since the update - namely Catacombs and Waterworks - so take this with a pinch of salt but:

    1) Elite doesn't seem to have got any harder.

    2) It seems like 30% of mobs have a Crown and mostly this just means they take 1 more hit to kill.

    3) ANY mob can be a Champion - Oozes, Spiders, Quest NPCs {Librarian Guillaume in Catacombs - He still got one shot btw!}.

    4) Zombie Champions can be a real pain to a Staff Acrobat!
    Why is it that every Champion I actually noticed in End-Game Marguerite was a Zombie? {80% of that quest if not more are Skeletons!}.

    5) With all those Champions {even in Friar's Niece I counted 3!} I didn't see a single chest!


    Feedback

    1) Reduce the numbers of Champions - 30% is way too high!

    2) Buff the remaining Champions better!

    3) Make only intelligent creatures able to be Champions - No Champion non-named Oozes/Spiders etc.
    Preferably also keep Champion status away from unintelligent Skeletons and Zombies - Most Undead quests have a few intelligent Undead around!

    4) Weapons breaking is a personal bugbear of mine - If a mob has DR already it shouldn't get more DR!

    Please add my name to whichever hat is the hat to vent about these changes. I had paid a million plat on auction for bladebarrier cookies (that got turned in to burning blood, yuckk) and then seeing near half the dungeon full (yes, i am a dungeon half full kinda guy, very positive) of these champion things which make them close to an end boss (or named with no bonus) just made my start to a fun feeling tr crash in to the unmotivated wall.

    I am certain these changes will add fun in some way. I am just in a vent and upset frame of mind as i had a nice pattern all worked out after x many tr lives and what is usually my fun quick grind to level 4 in an hour or so has become something to think a way around, which im not feeling in the mood to do. Maybe next week or next exp bonus time when the bonus balances out the extra time taken to discover hat all the new little bits happening are.

    So yeah, count me up as a tick toward the dislike of these champion things and catch you all next week. My motivation is shot for this weekend so going to change scene till i get back in the mood to check it all out.

    p.s of note, the buffs at low levels just seem to be deathblock, deal a bit extra damage, true seeing, and extra hitpoints (prolly ac and whatever else) on the champion mobs though there are likely other options. It adds in a random selection of all those type of things to them, most i seeen was one with 4 buffs, lowest was one with 2 buffs. Just adding this in for those curious to have information as to what is being buffed, though i haven't dabbled in it long enough to have an opinion on the exact buffs being cycled, i just dislike the shock of it being different at the moment.

    Having some limited experience tonight with champions.

    (tried soloing EE new chain, dropped down to EH)

    Champ spawns are too frequent.

    Champs are not strong enough.

    A lot of champs is a challenge as it is, but I would much rather a couple champs per quest that are a beast to fight rather than 30+ that are a meh to go thru.

    Chests/loot drops on champs exist? I didn't see one.

    So, again I would like fewer, tougher champ that drop some loot. They are champs afterall, a chest should be 100%.

    Overall decent system, just needs some tweaking, IMHO.
