Here is the answer from the release notes.

    Events:
Anniversary Cards and future card recipes are now linked to their events, which means that the recipes created by combining various cards will only be available when the event is active. Anniversary Cards can no longer be used to make Anniversary Card recipes.

Festivult Cookies have seen some adjustments for 2014! The Lord of Blades Cookie now has Blade Barrier, the Marilith Cookie has Burning Blood, Suulomades Cookies now has Teleport (and can be used in public spaces), the Warforged Titan Cookie now has Titan's Grip, and the Web Cookie now has Rejuvenation Cocoon

CARDS ARE NOT USELESS. Please continue with you normal routine.

Ooooo, Suulomades cookies!!! I wonder how many of those I have.

I'm sure some people didn't hear about this, but in addition to the forums, I saw it mentioned in general, guild and channel chats in the last week or so as people were trying to finish crunching. While it sucks that you missed the news, it's hard to fault turbine for you not knowing.

I only read the release Notes. Rarely read the Forums or Twitter. Only when DDO breaks.

I just opened a Box on a brand new character. More GARBAGE from lack of Notification. They do have eMail to all players?

Players deserve better guidance and in this game there is none.

Just leave the game altogueter man...

Whats the point of playing an MMO with this much duping and P2W? Gathering stuff and gear is meaningless. First players will come, play the entire story-arcs with their buddies and leave. Or stick around but never care any more about loot or achievements.

I completely agree with the OP. Anniversary gifts have never "expired" before so no one would expect that this one would expire. And yes, people went VIP in order to get double cards.

Turbine is the one who told us that a tiny percentage of players read the forums. I recommended that Turbine give both an in-game warning and an account email and there is zero reason why they should not have done that. Now, as I expected, players are starting to realize that they missed out. Totally bonehead PR move on Turbine's part.

I don't care I couldn't turn in some of my cards. I got the warnings, I just didn't bother. Loot means nothing anymore.

But for other players I can see why this would be frustrating. I mean, they punish honest players again. Dupers got all they needed out of cards already. They'll just dupe the rest. The problem is not just cards.

Punish honest players yes... I agree, bonehead PR move. I think what they want is to people to remain ignorant about duping. Because yes, some players seems not aware how widespread and bad it is.

It probably should've been announced in the launcher. But on the other hand, looking at every single announced downtime thread no one ever reads those either.

The thing about anniversary gifts is they've always been intended as temporary things. It's been nearly a year; it doesn't matter if you read the forums or not, if someone's unaware that card duping was rampant since day one and *eventually* Turbine would shut it down one way or another, that's pretty much on them.

The cards were abused and should have been stopped almost as soon as they were started due to the abuse which included people making multiple accounts just to get more cards and duping. They give us a nice little extra and people ruin it. You have no grounds to complain they gave way to much time for people to continue the abuse

No one asked for more time, they asked for notification. Making an post in the Announcements forum (even I don't regularly check the Announcments forum!) was not sufficient. Turbine was the one who told us how tiny a percentage of the player base reads the forums. How were the rest of the players supposed to find out their cards were going to expire? Mindreading?

Ingredients been abused. Sagas been abused. Stored XP, Otto's boxes been abused. A ton of stuff been abused. It's not just cards... It solve(s) nothing. He's got ground to complain as it's again the honest player that's being punished.

I don't think Turbine has to send emails, make multiple forum or IG anouncement about the cards being expired. There's always a guy that'll miss the calls and log in to find out he can't use his cards anymore. I just blame Turbine for giving up in face of dupers. What's next? They just can't stop dupers. If they start removing everything that's being cheated, it's not a win-win situation. I don't know what the solution is, but they fail really bad man... I really think they are just as guilty as the cheaters, they didn't seem to care at all about the issues. Honest players are punished, and honest players need to go elsewhere. I used to play so much, now I really am sad to see the state of DDO. Can't make myself to want to play.

    Default Great

Nice. I was one of the very lucky winners of the ddocast lottery. Haven't had much time to play in the past 6 months and haven't checked the forums in the past two. At least those 900 cards don't weigh much in my inventory.

And in the last nine months, you never took time to read any one of the multiple thread about cards?

The guidance has been there for those that take the time to find guidance or ask any person in game.

This is in NO WAY Turbine's fault - you're in the wrong place for handholding.

Not to mention the trade channels were buzzing for card trade for 2 weeks... it was pretty obvious something was going on...
