Default asking for U23/24 build help for dps cleric (first life).....

would like, if possible, stats(beginning and progression)/ skills/enhancements/feats/ and whatever else might be necessary.,I am vip and have TP so can buy stuff if necessary. If I am leaving something out correct me please. hopefully I am not asking too much but feel free to correct me on this also. I have no preconceived ideas of what I want other than ability to fight and heal myself and son. we play together with no other grouping atm anyway.

    edit:
oh, resurrection too and I like twf for dual weapons but not sure it is good for this kind of character. maybe an elf if this works for this type of character.

    Default Too thin

A first life dps cleric that needs to heal will spread your character too thin. You can focus on one or the other (mainly) and use hires to balance the other half. TWF probably not the best way to go. THF or S/B (or even the new SWF but I haven't used that at all- just see it as very popular). One possible build https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/422552 .

Don't really have the time to offer you build advice at the moment and there are probably people more knowledgeable than me when it comes to Clerics, but the reason why there's no responses to your thread is because the forums are busy exploding over the new Monster Champions.

Most posters will be a bit busy with that for a while. All I can really suggest is that you try looking through the Cleric Forum for now for ideas.

Easy enough to do Monk2/Cleric18 handwraps or Bard3/Cleric17 single-weapon.

Sorry rlarge I was one of those who looked at your post. I just haven't had time to respond. Most of my forum time has been spent on the monster champions as well.

If you're looking for a melee DPS/ healing TWF battle cleric type I'd recommend feats along this line -

    Definitely take these:

    Power attack
    Cleave
    Empower heal
    Maximize
    Improved Critical
    TWF
    ITWF
    GTWF
    Quicken
    Overwhelming Crit
    Perfect TWF

    Others to consider:

    Epic DR
    Empower
    Great Cleave

Highly recommend Human or PDK for extra feat and damage boost. Stat allocation should focus on STR, CON and CHA. Only enough WIS to meet spell requirements. Some DEX for reflex saves and to meet TWF feat requirements. The amount of DEX you take depends on how high of a DEX tome you have access to. You need to achieve 17 DEX with only build points and tomes in order to qualify for GTWF which is why a TWF cleric is a bit tougher first life. But I do have a first life TWF cleric myself, it's certainly doable with only a 32 point build.

    My prefered split is 15 cleric / 4 pally / 1 fighter.

I'm planning to make a long post here on the cleric forums soon detailing my THF battle cleric build (hopefully this weekend). You may find that helpful.

I have several cleric videos on my youtube channel and lots of videos on other DDO topics. Link here: Axel's youtube channel

Also if you're new to clerics check out my cleric healing guide: Axel's Cleric Healing Guide

As Powerhungry referenced above I have a video on the Warpriest tree here: Warpriest Tree - Why Battle Clerics Shouldn't Use It

As you can tell from the title I'm not a fan of that tree for melee clerics. I hope all this helps you get started. If you're on Thelanis feel free to message me anytime. My main character's name is Akksol.

It's a huge curve ball It doesn't seem well planned out and not WAI but what they exactly intended is purely speculation.

    As far as build,
    17 Cleric, 2 Monk, 1 Fighter 2HF Half-Orc
17 Cleric, 2 Monk, 1 Fighter 2WF Drow (with Racial Weapons) also works well.

ok! I like the idea of 17 Cleric, 2 Monk, 1 Fighter 2WF Drow (with Racial Weapons). any achancwe of getting the starting stats, skills, feats, enhancementgs, etc stated in first post? if too much trouble or no time then I understand.

Disclaimer - I have no clue if you have access to Tomes. If you don't, adjustments will be needed

    28 pt. Drow
    Lawful Neutral

    Str - 15 + 7 level ups
    Dex - 15 (+2 Dex Tome required)
    Con - 14
    Int - 10
    Wis - 10
    Cha - 12

There is some wiggle room for stats. I made this a Strength Based Melee Cleric who can heal you and your son. You can also go Dexterity or Wisdom based which will change the build slightly.

Note the Tome requirement. If you don't have easy access to a Tome, going Dex based and dropping Strength to 12 is an option. If you do go Dexterity based, switch Power Attack (PA) for Precision (and I think you need to take Weapon Finesse also but could be wrong about that).

    Leveling
    MCMCCCCCCCCFC...

    Skills:
    • Concentration (Scroll Casting)
    • Heal
    • Balance (extra)
    • Tumble* - Place 1 point (total) at creation to "unlock."

    Feats:
    • 1 - PA
    • Monk Bonus - TWF
    • 3 - Cleave
    • Monk Bonus - Deflect Arrows/Dodge (Preference)
    • 6 - Improved Healing
    • 9 - iTWF
    • 12 - G.Cleave/Maximize/Extend (Preference)
    • Fighter Bonus - IC - Piercing
    • 15 - gTWF
    • 18 - Quicken
    • 21 - OC
    • 24 - G.Cleave/Maximize/Extend (Preference/What you didn't take at level 12)
    • Perfect TWF

May be off in Feat order. BAB determines when you can take a few of the Feats. Main thing is to take the fighter level for IC - Pierce so it can be held off until you can.

Most of your AP's will be in Warpriest, Radiant Servant (tier 5), and Racial with a few in the "others".

    Weapons -
Crafted Holy/Bleed Short Swords (will last you awhile)
Hand wraps - Skeletons, Oozes, and Rust Monsters (best you pull)

Blade of Fury + choice (level 12) (Vampiric Fury Shortswords would be my preference)
    Envenomed Blade (level 16)
    Star of Day (level 20)

Above weapons are easy to acquire and are purely suggestions, but don't feel like you "have to have them"

could you explain a little more about the tome to get? I see this in ddo store:

Upgrade Tome of Supreme Ability (+1 to +2) IMPORTANT: REQUIRES a +1 inherent bonus for each stat / ability score. For level 7+ use. This amazing tome permanently increases each of your character’s ability scores (stats) from +1 to +2. You must have a +1 inherent bonus to all stats (from using tomes or upgrade tomes) in order to use this item.

but it requires a +1 in all statds if I read it right. I did not add any to int or wis. I did not sxee any other one I could buy. Maybe I am not looking in t he right place.

I do have Dex at 16 though because I had points left over after t aking what you said to take for stats.

    this is my start stats.
    str- 15. dex- 16, con- 14, int 10, wis 10, cha 12

For melee twf cleric, you will want to either go pure dex, elven, or human str, cha, wis, con. You can use divine might to help boost your str to where you want.

However, at this point, you also may want to put points into UMD so you can scroll cast Tensers. Which will make your spellcasting suffer, but you will get great physical stat boosting.

A really good combo though is a tempest/warpriest. So cleric 16/ranger 4. You may even take ranger to 3 or 2, depending on what you want. However I would recommend it to a certain level to get the most twf bonuses from it. The tier 5 one-thousand cuts enhancement is really nice when you use it, then throw an ameliorating strike when your doublestrike is 100% or higher.

What's your current Wisdom at when you see this message?

I ask because in order to cast certain spells you need the casting stat for them, Wizards and Artificers use Intelligence, Clerics, Favoured Souls, Rangers, Druids and Paladins use Wisdom, and Bards and Sorcerers use Charisma.

In order to cast a level 1 spell, a Cleric for example needs a Wisdom of 11 in order to be able to cast Level 1 Spells, Wisdom of 12 to cast Level 2 Spells etc. All the way up to 19 Wisdom for Level 9 Spells. (Note: You'll want much more than 19 Wisdom if you want a Whelk's chance in a Supernova of having your spells actually do anything to mobs).

Yes, 10 + spell level. So a Cleric will need 11 Wisdom to cast a level 1 spell, up to 19 to cast a level 9 spell. I see the build above starte at only 10 Wisdom. You'd need a buff (item, or guild ship buff, or potion of Owl's Wisdom, etc.) to reach at least 11 and be able to cast spells.

Favored Souls actually use Charisma, not Wisdom, in determining whether they can cast a spell. The confusion might arise because they do use Wisdom for determining their spell saving throw DCs.

Yeah, SirValentine is correct concerning Favoured Souls, for some reason my brain get's muddled at 4AM or whatever silly time it was. :P

I don't know why, but I was thinking that Charisma on a FvS was simply how FvS gained Spell Points and Wisdom was used for the actual casting part (DC's and casting stat + spell level etc.)

(Can you tell I don't play my FvS much?

Pure Dex makes little sense. You lose out on Rage (potion or ED's) and Divine Might (boosts Strength).

Second, Divine Power provides the BAB although Tenser's is nice for the +4 Alchemical Bonus. Cleric & fighter only gets 2 skill (+ int)/level and there isn't enough Monk to try and splash in UMD (which remains a cross class skill).
