Those end game pally's worth their salt will stay pallies, the rest will most likely be tr-ed or put back as bank toons.
My main toon is and always has been a pally.. but now i will join the crowd if i stay with this game at all and roll a cleric barb. That way i take advantage pf turbines gimmicks and bungling. Turbine has been messing so much stuff up and losing so many players. My opinion is they should fire everyone one of them and replace the staff. WB has to be watching and maybe instead of talking to turbines deaf ear we should all go over their heads and appeal to their pay masters.

Wow never seen this before.. play everyday..raid almost every day.. maybe 2-3 pallys in a raid.. but way more monks..certianlly many more dupers throwing pots.. but turbine wont acknowledge dupers.. lmao

If it's OP as it is, taking away 6.5 damage certainly isn't gimping it to the point of uselessness.

What else do pallys have for offense ? I have played one for years. they are gimp dps. but your really missing the point and redirecting for turbine, it should scale like the druids sword does ..But thats in the past now because lord sev and lord cordo have spoken and i cant wait for them to release the barb.. oh and then maybe the monk.. we all know everyone favors the monk.. wait that will be over the top OP....til they nerf it ..instead of fix it.. hey has anyone duped some tornadoe cards i can have ?

You let monks be, good sir.

There's nothing OP about (pure or almost pure) monks... Two weapon fighting is not updated, the trees offer no Melee Power, no MRR, no expanded critical profile, and now monks need to over-stretch the stat distribution to cover INT for Know the Angles... It's hard to be a monk these days. Trust me on this.

If you want to rant about front-loading and making monk-splash OP that's fine. But, please, make it clear, because monk players need some love now, not nerfs. We already have our lvl15 ability rendered useless, because forumite cry babies were...well...crying about it being useful. :/

Bards are far more suited to have instakills than monks apparently... rofl.

I can honestly say i have never made a monk in ddo.. but i will wait for it to be reworked and take advantage of however turbine messes it up for profit.. honestly HS wasnt something they just 'heard' was OP.. they knew it on lamma before it went live..they knew it before it went to lamma.. if they didnt they were MORONS. But they are not morons..just greedy. why do ou think they are reworking the clases one at a time ? they gave us ED's in one big sot...they could do the same with the classes and then tweak them as they did ED's.

I roll often with High lords, and it is true, their groups and raids have a low mix of Pally's.

However when puggin, I get a large array of almost all pally mains in the groups I run nightly. And of those, I get a lot of feedback on staying pally for a long time.

I have a few pallys in my alt roster that are going to stay pally. But that is because they are meant to be my pallys.

I am sure no one in the guild I am in have said they were going to reroll into pally 4ever. I do know that they love their pallys more than ever though. All of them are blindly worried about losing the 1[w], however the vets all agree: it won't change the awesome of holy sword and pallys will still be viable.

Even without the +1[W] and +2 enhancement, Holy Sword still adds* 60% extra DPS**. On my Steel Shrine build (shameless plug), I'm sustaining 1200+ DPS and boosted to well over 3000 DPS.

    * when fully supported by Armor Piercing and Fort Bypass such as Precision and Dragon's Edge, significantly less without those extra feats and effects.
**when using a Heavy Pick in Divine Crusader, significantly less for other builds and new players

I've played nothing but Paladins and Tanks for 4 years and I'm telling you, Holy Sword needed this nerf. Doing 1200 DPS and 3000 action boosted? That's approaching Monkcher territory and I don't even need to kite because I'm in full tank mode with 225 PRR. The squishy monkcher has to dance all the way around the platform while I just autoattack and grab a snack from the fridge. The loss of 1[W] and +1 enhancement is what, 6.5% of my dps. They need to drop the +2 altogether to bring the nerf up to at LEAST 7.5%.

I see one raid with lots of pally's - MoD. Other than that it's the usual Monk splash, ranged and caster raids. There's a reason btw why MoD has so many, because it's about the only way to tolerate that chaotic mess of a raid. It's ideally hamster wheeled for pally fighter builds through the silliness of stat damage, neg level boatloads of creatures.
Methink you're somewhat overstating it. I have exactly 2 pally's (same as before the change) - one is a fighter (purple knight), pally build and one is a pure bladeforged. And I don't intend to make any more.

Why would anyone build a caster/ranged/monk splashed toon at this point? I can see having a ranged option for soloing certain ee raids/Tough quests, but that's about it.

"That's approaching Monkcher territory" you just barely made it to that territory.
But now that they're going to nerf it, you'll be what? Left behind in dps again just like 5 years ago where paladins are nothing more but meatshield that can't kill.

Post U23, Monkchers are pretty much pointless. This nerf... or any nerf to pallies really won't change that.

While I agree Holy Sword on live is way too OP, this nerf will go too far. It will become +1 wpn enhancement, +1 crit range, and +1 crit multiplier. Ftrs, Rogs, Bards, and Barbarians all get similar bonuses in their trees w/o having to dedicate 14 levels to the class and a spell slot.

I'd like to see the +W dropped and the +2 left alone or increased to +3 instead of reduced to +1.

I know it stinks to have your favorite class nerfed, but guys...these comments are making me LOL. To say you're overreacting would be an understatement.

Everyone needs to chill and take a breath. Losing +1W and +1 enhancement bonus is peanuts. What really matters as far as holy sword goes is the crit effects, and those aren't being touched. Calm down people, it's a very minor nerf. Most probably won't even notice the change in their pally's DPS.

The devs gave pally's a huge boost last update, just because they're taking a tiny piece of it back is no reason to freak out. Devs have warned us about the possibly of future tweaks many times prior, during and after the U23 changes. They never promised that the U23 pally changes were final and were never going to be touched again. Devs have every right to tweak as they see fit, there's no bait and switch going on here. You were forewarned.

Pally is still by far a stronger overall class than fighters and barbs...and still one of the strongest if not the strongest overall class in the game. Would you rather go back to playing an U22 paladin?

so giving them one good spell for end level gaming and then nerfing it because a bunch of people that dont like pally's whine about it is fair ? Turbine or the 'devs' do bait and switch..they were told it was OP on lamma.. they knew it..they are first and foremost driven by greed. it could have been done right from the start and made it scale as you level, but that would have taken more effort and fixing it that way would as well. so..we get nerfed product. they are to fat and lazy to do anything right. look at the lfm..its been messed up for months. could go on and on about all the bugs in this game and things they start on and never finish.

whats OP in your build is the SWF feats, not the holy sword spell. SWF are an abomination (Turbine made them to help the horrible bard melee dps) and the mistake of let use Sacred Defender stance without a shield.

Sure some players told devs Holy Sword was OP on lamania. The devs clearly disagreed or wanted to see how the general population responded when it hit live servers. They don't have to implement player feedback if they disagree. They've now reevaluated and decided they were wrong, it is overpowered. And as I said before, it's a very minor nerf and players have been forewarned of the possibilty of future tweaks.

i still think they went overboard, a kneejurk reaction to people complaining about paladins or the comparisons to barbarians (still too weak)
