This is a very minor nerf indeed. Tho I will miss having a +54 implement bonus on my TF :I

If Holy Sword was a 2nd level Paladin ability, then everybody that is currently crying "nerf" would have 2 levels pally on the FotM builds - Ridiculous. Bunch of baby whiners. Paladins have sucked since the creation of DDO and there are bugs on other builds that make them OP that have existed for over 2 years... but God forbid that a nice little bonus that rewards the players that have always dived deep into the pally bucket exists for longer than a month - oh well - it was fun while it lasted. But don't ever tell me that your mega supreme min max build excels because of your superior playing again because if that were true you wouldn't be intimidated by a +1 (W)
Overreactions in this thread are hilarious.
Holy Sword still provides better DPS than nearly every class tree. Just go compare it to Kensai.
Well a fighter has to be 8 levels, spend 4 feats (of which one is great, one is ok, two are mostly useless) and lock into kensei T5 to get +1 crit range. I'll agree bards could use a tone down, but don't down play what a fighter has to do to get still less than what a paladin gets.
Git off mah lawn!
If, If's and But's was Candies and Nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas.
I don't think anyone is belittling the investment Fighter has to make in order to get an inferior enhancement. What you seem to turn a blind eye to is the 14 levels pallies must have invested, on top of Holy Sword being a spell effect. We have a spell duration while you have perpetuity. You also have bonus feats that make your wasted feats easier to swallow. What really sucks for pure fighter is that they can't get maximal use of their own tree (kensaii)...you have to be splashed monk to maximize the tree. That's just silly. What's also silly is the fact that the melee class dedicated to martial superiority should have an inferior enhancement versus being able to also buy a crit modifier.
Fighter's day in the sun is coming...I just hope the sun is shining a LOT brighter that day than it did on Barbarian's day
It seems the spell was nerfed but its description hasn't changed.
for everyone saying "OMG NERF" i have something to say:
I play paladins since i play this game (2011-12, can't remeber now)
i'm a terrible player and i ussually forget to cast HS (trust me, i do) and my pally is still so much much better than it was pre U23.
They'll be fine (unless turbine decide to buff a lot every other class)
I've played a Paladin since '06 and while the Holy Sword spell is a nice bonus to be honest I would have been happy if all they had done with the spell was make it a weapon buff that applied Holy Burst/Silver/Cold Iron, protection from Evil and added a Sacred +1 (or even +2) to the weapon. It would mean the spell had use again making it so a level 14+ paladin could turn there weapon into just about anything needed to break Evil's DR.
However, I think other areas are overlooked when the paladin changes occurred that also made a big impact on the paladin with this update
- Change to Enhancements - Smite Consolidation and tier/order of enhancements
- Addition of Cleaves to the KoTC - For a class that has few feats to choose while building these cleaves (which share the timer with their feat counter parts) means up to two different feats available to a build
- Vanguard Tree - Also a shout to the S&B Fighter crowd. The shield becomes more of a weapon as well as access to a Stun ability with its DC based on the Highest Attribute Modifier. Helpless damage is where most other melee were breaking away from Paladin DPS again limited feats made a stunning Paladin difficult to build without being splashed with monk or fighter.
Me too. My first character was a Paladin he brandished a +1 Holy Longsword & shield and was hard to kill even though it took him a while to kill anything himself [that was let to other folk]. When I came back to the game after F2P, I read everything Junts wrote about Paladins and made a proper THF one. He was even more capable and survivable and only through monumental stupidity on my part could he be killed.
After the Paladin pass including the Armour, Melee Power, Enhancement changes, I now have a very different character, he not only has superior survivability but is now dropping Elite at level enemies in just a couple of swings that previously would have taken 6 or more strikes to drop.
My main problem now is remembering to cast Holy Sword, there is so much win with the rest of the 'upgrades' that I do forget! Holy Sword as it now stands on live is an awesome addition to the class, but it's just a succulent sweet cherry on a much larger cake. The cake doesn't need the cherry to be a cake, but a cherry on it's own is just a tiny fruit, don't make it bigger than it is.
