    LEVEL DEATH COUNT
Vorstaag Rogue Warforged 8 3 The Kobolds' New Ringleader - Come Out and Slay -

Edweenna Wizard Human 7 3 Where There's Smoke... , Come Out and Slay, The Depths of Doom
Waterpot Druid Warforged 8 4 Come Out and Slay (X2), The Depths of Doom, The Trollish Scourge
    Vartoff Barbarian Dwarf 8 0
Hagoh Bard Human 8 1 Come Out and Slay

Completed the following quests on elite: The Bloody Crypt -
The Last Move: The Way to Yarkuch - The Last Move: Yarkuch's Last Stand - The Trollish Scourge - Extermination - Captives of the Cult

We got off to a good start completing the Bloody Crypt. It took a little while, but we methodically cleared the crypt as we unlocked the force field protecting the vampire Salasso's sanctum sanctorium. Danesi did an outstanding job turning all sorts of undead left and right.

Just before the last fight, Hagoh cast invisibility on both Waterpot and Vorstaag and they ran back and forth past the numerous caskets searching for some clue for the one that supposedly contained Salasso's heart while the rest of us kept Salasso and his undead minions busy.

Vorstaag finally found some scratches on the floor near one of the caskets in the upper level (spot 20). He opened it, crushed the black, wizened heart in his wooden hands and shouted down to the rest of us.

Vorstaag: I found it! He can be killed! OH NOOOO!

    Hagoh: What is it?!

Vorstaag: I got black gook all over my gauntlets!

The rest of us immediately turned all of our attention to Salasso and within seconds there was nothing left of the vampire but a pile of dust and the echoes of its death wail in our ears. We plundered Salasso's hoard and upgraded our Silver Flame amulets at the altar before leaving the crypt to report our success at the Necropolis.

From there we returned to complete the Tangleroot chain. Again we had very little trouble with the Hobgoblins and defeated them easily. Afterwards Hagoh had a poor selection of end rewards to choose from that skinflint Ungurz, and he ended up choosing a Splinterskull Acolyte Ring which is only marginally better than his devoted goggles set. Fortunately someone had found a ring of the magi and passed to Hagoh allowing him to upgrade from his ring of wizardry II.

High on success we next went to Sorrowdusk Isle to complete more tasks for Bruku. It was on our first foray into the Grey Moon ancestral caves, trying to clear the trolls, where Waterpot encountered a surprising number of force traps on the bridge that spanned a large chasm. DING!

Hagoh gathered up Waterpot and Teapot and returned to the shrine to revive them while Vorstaag successfully navigated the bridge and disarmed the traps from the other side. When Bruku directed us to return to the same caves, Waterport (and the rest of us) stood well back from the edge of the bridge while Vorstaag replicated his earlier feat of dexeterity, nimbly dodging and leaping the traps on the bridge to reach the other side safely.

Vorstaag: And THAT is how you do it.

Hagoh: I'd play a victory tune, but I think I broke a nail in that last skirmish with the scorpions

Vorstaag: Hi-larious. Anyway, someone can run back to the entrance and tell Danesi it's safe to move 10' from the cave entrance now.

Danesi: I was just guarding against some more trolls came in the caves while y'all were down there fiddling with the traps. I'm the rear-echelon.

Hagoh: You're the rear 'something' all right.

Just a couple of points. .1) We all were level 8 at the time of questing, all but Hagoh and Edweena had enough to level to 9. 2) Edweena is human, 3 deaths may have disfigured her but in no way can she be mistaken for a half elf. 3) Mostly just wondering if Waterpot transform himself into a blind wolf. He walks hallway into traps gets dinged and then says: " I stopped right at the edge." Do we need to get him some glasses for his wolf form?

Waterpot is amazed and occasionaly bewildered by his animal transformations. He desired knowledge of what it meant to be 'alive', yes, but at what cost? At every change, he feels more powerful, more primal, more sure of himsel-DING.
He looks out from his wolf eyes (farsighted for sure) and sees the other warforged and eagerly tries to join! But confusion sets in, and that strange feeling again! Hungry! While an animal all these thoughts swim thru his mind, perhaps he will consume the smaller party member while they sleep. Yes, a full belly will give time to rest and reflect on his transgressions.

    Lol. Sorry I'll fix that.

Lol. My rule of thumb is to stay ahead of Danesi but behind Vorstaag and Vartoff so they can "find" the traps.

    No one died!

Only four of us, but no trapper. We ran something somewhere (I'm a wolf, I don't remember) and the barbarian set off a trap we all knew was there when opening a chest. Thing was, we were all far back but BOOM we all took fire damage. A lot.

I think it was fire caves. We tried to run a few quests in Three Barrel Cove, but none of us picked them all up, plus it was decided that a few of them would be too hard. Danesi piped up and try to offer us all waivers from death counts! But it smelled fishy to my wolf nose, so we said no! Plus, he was growing horns and said he could teleport!

In the end we called it a night after about an hour. I think everyone is the same level now.

ps. I tried to cast lightning storm in wolf form at Jack Jibbers. About half-way thru the animal casting animation, the other 3 in the party had looted and recalled. Also, I used a maximized quench on a fire elemental, was fun.

Sorry you couldn't make it, I hope everything is ok. Someone (all you humans sound alike to me) said they wouldnt be able to make it next week on account of work and seasonal mating ritual day or something....like I said, I'm a wolf...

Dansei, Edweena, Vartoff and Waterpot met up to dicuss possible ways to earn more money. Hagoh was absent as he was trying to impress a blonde who thought he ahd a cute voice. Vorstaag was also absent but for more serious reasons. It seems his village was built at the bottom of a mountain, a huge avalance had occured and buried his village. No deaths or serious injuries but the village needed digging out.

The party decided to try Three Barrel Cove but not before Dansei did her best to try being the bard, poor Vartoff, his ears are still bleeding. Edweena begged Dansei to leaving the sing to Hagoh. The group proceeded to the quest The Legend of Two-Toed Tobias. Except for the problem of Dansei swimming in heavy armor, we encountered very little problems until we came to an area of ice with an ice memphit.
Dansei: Don't pull the lever. Don't pull the lever.
Waterpot: It's not a lever, its a valve.
Dansei: Ok, Don't turn the valve.

Edweena being the intelligent one got as far away from the valve as possible, the other three gathered around the valve.
    Dansei: Turn the valve.
Waterpot: No, you turn the valve.
Vartoff: No, you turn the valve.

    Finally someone turned the valve.
Dansei: Eeek. I was right next to that fire jet.

Thankfully the group encountered no other problems, thus killing Two-Toed Tobias and gathering up his treasures. We then proceeded to Prove Your Worth but Dansei kept grumbling about some trap in the middle of the room. Edweena, having just used a shrine remebered that it was mentioned that feather falling was required in the quest and asked if everyone had featherfall. The answer was no so we then proceeded to The Scoundrel's Run.

Except for a fire trapped chest which almost took Edweena's head off and Waterpot getting singed the quest was no problem. Dansei of course, suspecting a trapped chest had run back to the chest entrance to guard the door. Upon completion we proceeded to Ghost of a Chance, only no one had gotten the quest from Marteen Worley, sometimes tough to see ghosts.

We then ran The Fire Caves: The Stones Run Red without any problems. We decided to call it quits after that so as not to get too far ahead. Most of the group had retired to their rooms when Hagoh showed up. Edweena was the only one still up but too engrossed in her spell prepartion studies to notice Hagoh. Hagoh glanced around then went to his room loudly slamming the door. Edweena looks up and ponders maybe things did not go so well with the blonde.

The four of us are level 9.

Disclaimer: None of the names were changed to protect the innocent. No animals except for Waterpot and maybe Teacup were hurt in this weeks adventures.

On 2/11/15 We ran the following on elite: The Mystery of Delera's Tomb, The Missing Party, Free Delera, Return to Delera's Tomb (Quest)

After absolutely obliterating the undead in in Delera's part 1, Danesi became drunk on power and began zerging well ahead of the party. In part 2 Danesi was at one point 2 soul locks ahead of everyone else, blasting everything to dust and putting the undead to final rest.

The rest of us had little else to do but break open containers and trudge through the dunes of dust of bones left in the zerging zealot's wake.

In part 3 Danesi discovered what happens when you zerg to close to the sun: you get orange alert and get curb stomped by a hoard of marauding undead.

We recovered Danesi's corpse and resurrected her at a shrine and completed the rest of part 3 and part 4 at a less frenetic pace. Coincidentally we all survived. Vorstaag had a bit of difficulty finding the traps in part 4, but with inspiring words from Hagoh (accompanied by one heck of a melody) he was able to rise to the occasion and disarmed all the traps successfully.

Our barrel-chested barbarian, Vartoff, was AWOL, and everyone but Hagoh earned enough XP to take level 10.

Default Lots of DINGs last nite...

Thanks to Danesi and all, I was lucky not to be one of them. -9 health! Fire trap singe fur! I finally had to be loudly told, 'Hey, fleabag! How about getting out of that firetrap room?"

Also shout-outs to Hagoh, berrie much!

We ran VON, 1-4 and things are getting a little rough. The champs, I like them really I do!, are hitting like a truck, and the spells! Oh boy, watch out. Several of us got our health sliced in half or more, I personally had several moments of sub 100 health. PS, Beholders are tuff! Champ beholders are something else! I actually came out of wolf form for once!

    Vartoff Barbarian Dwarf 10 0
Hagoh Bard Human 9 3 Come Out and Slay, Prison of the Mind X2,

On 2/18/15 We ran the following on elite:Tharashk Arena, Prison of the Mind, Gateway to Khyber, The Jungle of Khyber, Haywire Foundry

We expected some challenges with the chain, but four deaths in one night, two by Hagoh alone, wasn't really what we were expecting.

Tharashk Arena was pretty straightforward and Hagoh was actually able to mesmerize some bad guys for more than six seconds before the summons and AOE's broke it! His life as a bard has now been fulfilled.

Prison of the Mind however... lets just say that Hagoh learned that level 8/9 quests on elite is the current cut off for how far he can reasonably expect to get without dying while still sporting zero fort and 170 HPs. Watching a champion beholder disintegrate Vorstaag into a smoking pile of ash in one shot (452 damage - ouch!) was eye-opening, but since none of the group has over 300 HPs, except for the raging Dwarf barbarian, Hagoh didn't see how moving around a few APs would help him avoid that grisly fate.

But when Hagoh got two-shotted for 190 by near simultaneous blows from two different Tharaak Hounds, and then got one-shotted for 200 by Orphne's Shadow, it drove the point home: YOU NEED MORE HPs DUMMY! Fortunately Hagoh found some +5 con bracers later that evening and swapping some APs from song upgrades to HP upgrades helped bump him just over 200.

And the fun didn't end there. Edweenna also lost another life as she was burned down by a flurry of beholder death rays, while Waterpot had another pucker factor 10 moment when a big RED -9 appeared briefly in the bar where all his HPs used to be. Fortunately Danesi and Hagoh were paying enough attention to bring Waterpot back from the brink in the nick of time!

Gateway to Khyber, The Jungle of Khyber actually went pretty smoothly and neither three bosses near the end, nor the Marut (despite the lack of DR breakers), were much trouble.

Haywire Foundry went extremely well. Not only did no-one die, but Vorstaag was able to find and disable all the traps - including the force traps protecting the secret shrine. Navigating the traps at the end was a little tricky, but we kept moving as a group and made sure to kill all the mechanical mutts as we went. It was perhaps our most successful and smoothest run of the evening.

About half the group was able to take level 11 at the end of the evening.

Default 2/25/15 Two AWOLs and Four Deaths

On 2/25/15 We ran the following on elite:Fathom the Depths, The Claw of Vulkoor, The Last Stand, Into the Deep

Another bit of bad luck. First our cleric reported she had more pressing matters than acting as Vartoff's lifeline, then our rogue was a no show. But between Hagoh and Waterpot we thought we'd have enough healing to survive the quests, so we chose a chain with very few traps that are unavoidable.

Both The Last Stand and Fathom the Depths went veeerrrry smoothly. The most difficulty we had was trying to keep up with our zerging Dwarf barbarian. At one point he zergged while the rest of us zagged and he found himself all alone in the wilderness area with a green alert! Fortunately Vartoff has so many HPs that even at 60% he's still in better health than Hagoh.

We were remarking how Vartoff still hadn't died yet and got into the following exchange:

HAGOH: Well it helps that you haven't been on as many quests. You've faced less danger so of course you'd have fewer deaths.

    VARTOFF: Yeah that's it.

    HAGOH: OK... LOL.

Cue The Claw of Vulkoor. After quickly dispatching the Fire Giant warlock Sobrien, we had to drop down into a chamber below that we suspected was heavily trapped.

HAGOH: Could I get a fire resist from someone please? Thanks.

VARTOFF: OK, we'll all drop down and try to take out the fire giant before he can set off the traps.

    EDWEENNA: All right.

VARTOFF: On my mark... ready.... NOW!

    WATERPOT: I'm down.

    EDWEENNA: Me too!

VARTOFF: I'll try to trip him! Whoops!

EDWEENNA: Noooo the fire traps!! DING!

    WATERPOT: What? DING!

    VARTOFF: ... DING!

HAGOH: Hey guys I think I found a safe spot over - DING!

After the dust settled, only the summoned devil and rock elemental survived to battle, and eventually defeat, the fire giant.

HAGOH: Cool the summons killed him!

    VARTOFF: I recalled.

WATERPOT: Why? There's a shrine right here.

    VARTOFF: There is?

    EDWEENNA: Whoops I recalled too.

HAGOH: LOL. OK Waterpot and I just used the resurrection shrine. Have a nice walk back!

    WATERPOT: Umm... Hagoh...

    HAGOH: Yeah?

WATERPOT: Maybe we shouldn't have rezzed so quickly.

HAGOH: Why not? The fire giant is dead.

WATERPOT: Well that one is, yes. But THOSE TWO AREN'T!

    HAGOH: OH SH#($!!!

Fortunately Waterpot and Hagoh were able to heal up quickly and take down the two fire giants before they got the jump on us. Edweenna and Vartoff arrived back in the quest just as we finished using the rest shrine. The rest of the quest went smoothly despite a few champions putting up a good fight, but we were still a little shell shocked from the party wipe and decided to skip Prince Gonard altogether and just complete the quest.

Into the Deep went very smoothly and Hagoh was able to put his balls to good use (his Dancing Balls) while Waterpot, Vartoff, and Edweenna turned the Sahaugin into fish sticks. At the end I think only Vartoff was lucky enough to get a complete Red Fens set of the Vulkoor's Cunning items. Because of course that's what we want our mega-HP barbarian to have: 10% less threat.

I had wanted to try the Von raid, but I think our luck my just run out! Are we sure about the totals death above? I heard someone say they had 6 already.
Perhaps it's time for what I like to call 'Teapot Surprise!" We let her run in, do her thing (ding), and we mop up. Of course, she has a tendency to run back to me, so it might become "Teapot's Death Agro Homing Device", but we are getting towards the end of our lives aren't we?

Default One Must Die So That Coyle May Live!

On 3/4/15 We began the Ruins of Threnal chain and ran the following quests on elite: In Need of Supplies, The Rescue, Secure the Area, The Threnal Arena, The Library of Threnal, Escort the Expedition, Hold for Reinforcements.

After assembling in House Phiarlin, we heard there were some interesting things happening in the Ruins of Threnal, so we set off to help the archeologists and crypto-magicians researching the ruins. Immediately we were set upon by giants! We made short work of them and hacked our way through any other fauna foolish enough to stumble across our path between us and the camp.

Tales of our exploits had preceded us and we were asked to help take supplies to Chief Engineer Derward's excavation group in the Western part of the dig. The ancient tunnels carved into the rock meandered here and there and were seemingly created without any sort of plan or logic. As a result it was easy to get turned around, but we eventually found a trail of humanoid footsteps which we followed hoping it was Derward's group.

The tunnels were filled with glass spiders, mephits, and flesh renderers, but we found Derward's group and they were ecstatic to receive the much needed supplies. We asked if there was anything else he or his team might need, but Derward said with the new supplies they would be able to maintain their foothold in the dig and continue their work. We said farewell and returned to the camp.

Almost immediately after returning to camp we were told that Phiarlin wizards scrying on Derward had lost all contact and they feared he had either unearthed some ancient evil which destroyed him and his team or that he was trapped and unable to fight his way back out to the surface. So we returned to the Western dig site, went back inside, and found Derward and his surviving team members. We asked Derward if there was anything else we could do for him, the expedition, or House P before returning to the surface, since, you know, it was now our second time down here, but Derward assured us all he required was safe passage back to camp.

Almost immediately after safely escorting Derward and the others to camp, we were told that a large number of flesh renderers, led by an ice flenser Zelnath, had entered the Western dig site and they would need to be destroyed before Derward could return.

HAGOH: Wait, what? You want us to go back down there a THIRD TIME???

JAN FALNER: Yes, we need your help defeating Zelnath and the other demonspawn!

DANESI: Wow these guys are giving me Bruku flash backs.

VARTOFF: Or that bugbear chief, what'shisname, Ungulate, Ungawa...

    DANESI: Ungurz.

VARTOFF: No, that wasn't it. It was like Ungrate? Ungerhulk?

DANESI: I'm sure it was Ungurz.

VARTOFF: Ungurz, huh? You sure it wasn't more like BungBurz?

    HAGOH: Bungburz? Seriously?

VARTOFF: Well I don't know! I'm sure it's really easy to remember if you're a Bugbear! The name's probably as common as Thunderhammer or Orcsplitter for them!

EDWEENNA: I don't think I've ever heard of anyone with those names.

VARTOFF: Ok well maybe for Elves it would be like Flowerdancer or Dewdropkissyface.

EDWEENNA: Uhm. I'm NOT an Elf.

VARTOFF: What? You're not? Since when?

    EDWEENNA: Since always?

HAGOH: Look we're getting sidetracked people! The Bugbear's name was Ungratz...

    DANESI: Gurz.

    HAGOH: GURZ! Edweenna's a Half-Eh...

    EDWEENNA: Human.

    HAGOH: ... Half-human...

EDWEENA: Full Human. Just like you.

HAGOH: ... FULL human! Whatever... and now we need to go back down there, for a THIRD time, to help Derwood here...

    DERWARD: Actually it's Derward.

HAGOH: ... DerWARD! Thank you! And clear out those flesh renderers! Can we just do that? Please?

VARTOFF: Hey I'm down for all that!

    HAGOH: Great! Let's do it!

VARTOFF: But I'm pretty sure that it wasn't Ungurz. Maybe it was Anders?
