Default old man looking for pure sorcerer or maybe some rogue but...

I have a H**** of a time figureingo out the builds. If I could get base stats/skills/enhancements /feats/ etc and then the stuff to take at each level for advancement I would be a happy camper. I am playing a fire sorcer atm but... I like the fire but build is questionable. thanks if this is possible and flame me if asking too much.

The usual advice is don't do a rog / sorc, because they don't have the same synergies as rog / wiz does: namely lots of skill pts to beef up rog skills from going INT-based caster; and good Reflex saves thanks to Insightful Reflexes feat (subs INT for DEX on saves). Which I presume you already know based on this thread.

Some people do, say, sorc 16 / pal 2 / rog 2 - the pal splash gets you Divine Grace (+CHA mod to all saves) - but those tend to be folks with the tomes, gear, etc. necessary to make such a build combo work well. Plus pure sorc is still plenty strong, so you shouldn't "dilute" it by multiclassing until you have a better idea of what you're doing, IMHO.

ok that is what I thought. so, with that settled, can I get the layout of pure sorcerer with the OP stuff I seem t o need. at least so far. I just don't seem to be able to wrap around all the different build possibilities and really want to just play. However, having said that, I would like to play with a good build. as I said looking for fire sorcerer build with all the specifics unless a different one is better.

I like fire/lightning, lightning has wind dance which is the best tier5 ability imho. Electric Loop is also a great SLA. Fire is for pure damage, scorching ray (with immolation) and (delayed blast) fireball are your staples. Fire works well with fvs splash but that makes things complicated again.

enhancements can be easily reset, but you should always have one AOE nuke with high spellpower. At low lvl thats either fireball or acid blast, fire is better imho and doesnt hurt lightning.

Well first off, have you downloaded this yet: DDO Character Planner?

That way you can work stuff out before-hand.

Second, as @unbongwah said, sorc and rogue don't mesh well at all. Not really worth doing, unless you have a fair bit of experience, gear and PLs. Imo anyway.

Pally does work well if you want to boost your saves through Divine Grace, but I agree with @
    • unbongwah again, you should probably get a better hang on things first.

      My advice is
    • make a Drow sorc if you have that race available to you yet,
    • max out your CHA,
    • don't completely dump INT (spellcraft and skill points),
    • look at taking Force of Personality feat (gives you wicked will saves by using CHA as key stat),
    • put all your level-ups into ChA,
    • put skill points into Concetration,
    • Spellcraft and umd, put enough points into EK to get some Wand and Scroll Mastery and a couple points of CHA,
    • pick one of the Savant lines (Fire is terrible for heroics, too many creatures are immune...Air or Cold are best, imo)

    and run with it.

    Why Wand & Scroll mastery?
FYI, when I summon an earth elemental, it's not a "he," it's a "she." And her name is Pebbles.

Improves the efficiency of non-WF self healing during heroic levels when using CCW Wands or Heal Scrolls.

Once you unlock Cocoon, it's not very helpful, but resetting enhancements isn't terribly painful.

Do not listen to this nonsense - from level 6 to level 18 there is no better savant than Fire. You will cast literally ONE spell - Fireball - which will blow everything up and burn them to a crisp for most of your leveling.

Now - once you hit the Vale and Amrath, things become much more difficult (although no impossible), for a Fire Savant.

Fire/Acid and Fire/Air are your best bets.

Acid is Fun, but it's more of a flavor build these days. Personally, I like it, but the synergy just isn't there for any other savant since most acid spells are Conjuration while the other savants rely primarily on Evocation

Air is great against devils and it has one of the best Tier 5 abilities - Wind Dance. It has great synergy with Fire since they both rely heavily on Evocation.

If you plan on going into end game and Epic Levels, there's plenty of alternative Sorcerer Builds - Toaster of Vengeance, Fire Angel, etc. but they require a bit of planning, generally want some past lives and tomes, and staying pure is very viable as well.

If you're thinking of splashing another class, I'l list the most popular with the reason why you splash them.

    (One Class Splashes)
2 Rogue - Evasion and Rogue Skills - Not very popular since Wiz/Rogue works much better since both are Intelligence based classes.
2 Monk - Evasion + two extra feats (Martial Arts Feats Only) - Usually Dodge and either mobility or Toughness are taken.
2 Pally - As has already been mentioned, you get Divine Grace at Pally 2 which adds your Charisma bonus to all of your saves.*
2/4 Favored Soul - This is a bit more complicated. Both are Charisma Based and you NEED to be a Five Savant for this to work. Fvs Angel of Vengeance synergizes EXTREMELY well with a Fire Savant Sorcerer. The choice between 2 and 4 is personal and there are positives to both.

    (Two Class Splashes)
    2 Monk / 2 FvS
    2 Monk / 4 FvS
    2 Pally/ 2 FvS
    2 Pally /4 FvS
    2 Monk / 2 Pally

*PLEASE NOTE: Divine Grace is on the Developers' "Next to NERF" short list. This will limit Divine Grace's effectiveness for Sorcerers and will eventually become a flavor build.

I tend to be fairly good at Sorcerer Builds, so any questions you'd like about the above builds or a Pure Sorc. just let me know and I'll try to answer them.
