Well, if we are to assume a Marilith has 29 Strength as according to the monster manual and if we are to assume that the strength applies to each of its arms (assuming it has six arms) and your average adventurer, at the weakest, at level 1, has around 6-8 Strength, depending on their race, and using some nonsensical calculations that make barely or no sense at all...
At most, you'll need 29 Adventurers total, assuming their Strength is at the value of 6 each against all six of a Marilith's arms at least to tie, however, we can't assign 29 Adventurers evenly to all six of a Marilith's arms, so we'll need an extra one to make the groups even.
So you'll need at most 30 Adventurers to triumph over a Marilith using all six of its arms, assigning five adventurers to each arm, in an arm-wrestling contest, provided the adventurers in question aren't afflicted by other Strength-draining condition(s).
Alternatively, one Adventurer and a Natural 20 would be all you need.

Just a random, forgettable NPC doing things an NPC does
Things that NPCs do include, but are not limited to:
Having a gold goblet over my head to indicate availability of a quest
Having a catchphrase that never really catches on
Having various rewards that are generally not worth the trouble
Wandering around randomly
Giving out obvious information if it wasn't obvious enough
Repeating the same lines over and over again
Repeating the same lines over and over again
Considering that she cheats and uses her tail it would be 7.
Any Port in a storm... But why one with so many vermin?
a million six
None.
Poor Marilith will fail her saves and fall madly in love with Fantasticman from Sarlona when they meet. Fantastic has a no fail /flex and /dance2.
Rather than melee, Marilith will purse a different avenue. One of affection.
Just one
Astreya the Unturning
It's always a shame when the hammer of poor design choices smashes the fun of player tactical adaptation.
Just one, but he or she has to be very strong. And good-looking (for the newspaper portrait op).
Nine: six to do the actual wrestling against her six arms, and another three to tickle her armpits from behind.
How many adventurers would it take to best a Marilith in an arm-wrestling contest?
42.
...plus 1 tortoise.

One - provided that the one is a half-orc barbarian that rips her arms off.
it would depend how drunk the Marilith is...
Inagaki
Argo
CoP
My dog bites her tail.
My fully charged rune arm takes out five of her arms, leaving one for me.
I cast Tensor's, use Titan's Grip clicky, drink a potion of Prowess, and take that prehistoric beotch downtown Ghostbuster's-style!
Just one surly dwarf, with a hand-keg of fine dwarven spirits! No spindle-armed snakewoman in a bikini top is gonna best Moradin's finest!
None. Just use a feather; she is ticklish.
19. I don't know why, but its a nice number.
