Default CLONK... 'cause it's fun to say

Just looking for feedback on this build I'm working on. Just go ahead and make fun of it, and ask "why'd you do that there?" and say "WTC were you drinking when you made them keyboard strokes there?!?"

I don't really know what I'm doing, but I just put a few things together that made me think I could heal some people and maybe hit a few things with my fists. Never really played a clonk though, but I'm getting my second monk life under my belt.

    few tips:

    - u haven't taken a lvl 18 feat
    - ur stunning fist dc will be quite low as it depends on monk lvls too, so with only 2 monk lvls isn't a good idea, toughness and extra turning are wasted feats
    - for healing u only need 11 cleric lvls for the heal spell, and quicken and empower healing

i wouldn't bother with aura or boosting it, so u could go with more monk lvls and get stunning fist (or even go with the tier 5 from shintao) instead of having so many cleric lvls

heal mass is a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long casting spell, even quickened, w/o quicken is a wasted spell

just saying, i have 3 clr, 3 fvs and 2 monk pl (the rest of pl aren't related with what u posted XD)

if you have some experience with monks, just play that cleric as another monk who has the heal spell, healing burst and if you want, healing aura (is a tier 5 and isn't really that great)

also could go 17 cleric and 3 monk, go light so you get the -25% sp finisher, w/o stunning fist ofc

there're several options depending on what you wanna play, hard to mess it :P

PS: with 7 reflex evade is useless, just saying XD
psykopeta is finally baconpletionist because there isn't anything to delay it more - thelanis, where the gimps claim to be pros and noobs claim to be pros, no newbies allowed(unless they claim to be pros), we have enough drama w/o them. PS: I post only in the latest thread shown in main page, in the weird case u want something from me, feel free to send pm

stunning fist is based on half character level, wisdom mods plus tactical bonuses--in the past it was based on monk levels only but that was changed some time ago. So just crank up your wisdom, build in tactical gear etc

stunning fist isnt based on monk lvl, its based on char lvl and wis. It works perfectly fine on a clonk. (I played 3 clonk-like lives).

Wis-based clonks are nice for dc casting (mostly implosion, mass frog if mobs have no SR) and stunning fist, and can use draconic burst and GMoF effectively, but the dps against red-names (giants in storm horns... urgh) is horribly low. You need to find a solution there. Id also recommend going 17 cleric and either 3 monk or 2 monk/1x as a wis/dc based clonk. I still like aura for self-healing, but other options (warpriest?) might be better since self-healing isnt really a problem for a clonk.

If you want more melee dps, you should try less cleric and maybe some pally. Or more monk for tier 5 shintao, str/cha based staff dps, no wis.

oh i adore playing clonks. i used to like them much more before the enhancement pass but they are still super fun.

My personal preference (and keep in mind that *no one* and I mean *no one* would come to *me* for building advice) is more caster feats although i'm going to try doing the monk stances because the extra wisdom OR the extra hp/dr stuff is probably better. i find i get away with about 11 to 14 turn undeads and positive blast is one of the main ways i'll heal. mind you this is often playing with people who don't actually need much healing. so i wouldn't find extra turn undead that useful - but it looks like from your enhancements you want to actaully turn undead -rather than use the turn undead turns for healing? if you want a turn undead specced character that is another beastie and others here might advise you.

i am also slack about mental toughness... with gear (i went and eventually got a bauble for example) and with playing with a lot of people who don't need as much healing and doing CC casting from GMoF i get away with a smaller sp pool by using positive bursts and aura. a lot of the time it's only those big battles where everything is going crazy where i find i need to fall back to a lot of healing.

also these days as there is no requirement to take empower healing for radiant servant pre, ... i um... am even slacker and don't take it. for the most part i just find there is just so so much healing going on that i'm over healing.

you may want to way up the benefits of taking toughness or not. time was EVERYONE took toughness. the devs very sensibly looked at that during the enhancement pass and gave us all some standard hp so it's not as needed. with a bit of sensible gear you might use that feat for something else as well....

so... so far if any of the above is valid ... that frees up 5 feats plus the missing one at 18... so if you spread them out correctly (they have min levels you can take them) you could slot in the 4 monk forms feats. then may idk... depends on your preference... heighten maybe if you want to CC or insta kill (my pref), extend if you get sick of casting DV and DP (i live without...), oh and quicken (i think most people are going to highly highly suggest you take this) and/or other melee type feats.

and yes clonks have sucky reflex. i live with it. you just have to be quick and careful. evasion works way better than it should.

but really what *you* feel comfortable playing is going to be different to what *i* like playing. so i hope you get lots and lots of advice (much better than mine!) and find something that works for you.

    enjoy!

    Awesome feedback ya'll.

I'm definitely on board with quicken, I had played a cleric up to lvl 19, and I had forgotten about how long heal took to cast. Also, I have an open spot for that lol.

I think I'd like to keep all the SP boosts, just because I always seem to find a way to blow every bit of SP I have, no matter what type of caster I play.

I'll look into adjusting my monk feats too, thanks for the input on that.

Thanks for the clarifications on stunning fist too.

Also, if I lose a cleric lvl, I think I lose access to lvl 9 spells. Not that I've mentioned that that mattered to me, but I think it does a little bit.

Anyway, input thus far has been very helpful.

Clerics get 2 level 9 spell slots at level 17.
I'd go for a 17cleric,2monk,1wizard and pick up another meta magic feat.

Ok, yeah. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble getting things right with the char generator lol.

Well giving consideration to everything you all have said, I've changed around to get quicken, still on the fence on heighten because I took it as a sorc, but never used it. Ignorance playing into how well my insta kills will work without it... not even sure how much I'll use them on the clonk. I do as a sorc all the time though.

However, I still wanted to use Maximize and Empower Healing, to boost the positive energy burst. I was wanting to keep the extra turns feat to spam it as much as possible.

I remember playing my straight cleric how much I loved using that burst with max and empower on, which is really the only reason I wanted to take them.

Also, what feats would anyone suggest I get to boost my combat damage, being that without moving my base points around I don't have enough dex for twf feats.

I took toughness because at the time I thought it was the best monk feat available, I could replace that with power attack. Again though, I'm a little ignorant on how differently my to hit will suffer using PA as a clonk, vs. as a straight monk. I never take PA off as a monk.

Just some random **** going through my head as I continue to work on the gimpest clonk eva build!!!

If you've got no dex and no room for twf, I'd seriously consider going 2fighter instead. You'll lose 2 wisdom from water stance, but the MRR/PRR boost you get from heavy armor will make you much more durable (especially with your aura) which in itself will be a proxy boost to your melee dps, pick up 2* shield mastery feats and you'll be even more durable and gain some double strike.

If you really do prefer a centered play style, sacrifice some strength and some cha (I'm assuming you're investing in cha for divine might). What good are they if they're costing you 60% off hand attacks?

As for power attack and to hit. Don't worry about to hit, there's a random value in the to hit formula now and in general to hit doesn't matter as much used to.

Also why are you going for half orc? it's spreading you rather thin vs human or even (shudder) drow.

The problem with Clonks is that you need to commit to melee or healing. There simply isnt enough feats to go around to do both effectively.

Luckily, healing is becoming less and less critical in todays DDO. today, we can get by on Empower healing and a few enhancements.

My next cleric/monk is going tolook something like this
