Question about Auction House/Shard Exchange

So, is it okay to buy stuff from the Auction House or Shard Exchange if it's improbable that the person selling them obtained them through legitimate means? I mean, I see stacks of like 10,000 shadow dragon scales or 10,000 fire dragon scales, or 100 meridian fragments and I highly suspect that the person selling them didn't actually farm them all. I mean it is POSSIBLE that they bought them all from the auction house over a very long time, but it's not very likely.

So yeah, can I buy these from the AH/Shard Exchange without getting into trouble?

I think the reasonable behavior would be to treat it like marihuana in some countries.
* selling and growing it is illegal
* having moderate amount for personal consumption is tolerated
