    Default Prime example

Lord knows I often find myself wondering why on earth people complain about some of the things that I read here on the forums, but one of the issues that I believe needs some serious improvement is the attitude of the players.

Case in point: I join the lfm of a guy, we'll call him T, which said only "epic orchard". I'm in GH, so I start running toward House P. I'm almost at the entrance to the orchard and I ask "you doing s/r/e or quests?" in party chat. I asked it only so I'd know what to expect, and I've joined similarly-worded lfms before thinking it'd be s/r/e and the party was doing the quests.

Next thing: ding, "T" dismissed you from the party.

The kind of move that is starts with a "d" and it's no wonder players would rather not group when people are going to act like that.

Anyway, there's my tantrum for the day. Thanks for wasting my time, "T".

Should have entered Orchard first, then asked the question.

In today's game any LFM for "epic orchard" would mean all 4 quests for named items and chain completion.

But dismissing like that is plain rude.

You should be happy, that's obviously a person who will be no fun to play with. He weeded himself out for you. Put him on your squelch list.

In fact I did. First person ever on it.

Yep. Lots of people with bad attitudes in this game lately.
Seems to be getting worse, and I see more and more going over to the dark side.

Nah.... even though it gives the jerk the satisfaction of getting to boot someone, he is still better off not grouping with him IMO.
(although would have been better if he could somehow have been in the Orchard, and known the guy was trying to boot him or otherwise be a jerk... and then leave group himself. Always best when you are the one who gets to call the shots and/or make the statement.)

May have been decent players in group with PL, but entering Orchard first would have shown whether blue dots were playing in the wilderness; the absence of blue dots may have indicated questing. Also, LFM board shows more info than many players think to look for. Either way, being in a private instance would have inhibited a knee-jerk response by the PL.

I could see if you wanted to know if you should grab a Anti-Beholder item or something while you were near the ship entrance that you'd ask while still in a public area.

But mostly I agree with 6 about 2 and also you 3.

I have no idea what 7 is talking about with 13 but 8 is usually right about everything so I'll go with 8.

Gamers--or a lot of them anyway--tend to be snot-nosed jerks with a sense of entitlement, agreed. Now what exactly can you or Turbine or the thought police or Santa Clause do about it?

Not a thing. Just be a little sad about it I guess.

I consider myself fairly quiet and antisocial, but some people in this game put me to shame. I'll typically say hello when I join a group or accept an applicant, and let them know what quest we're in in case I forgot to update the LFM or the quest just finished. Lots of people won't bother saying anything back and will outright ignore simple questions or directions in quests where a little direction is needed. Or we're at the end of a quest and someone joins late, so I'll ask them how soon they can get there or if they need the completion and there's complete silence.

There was one fellow several lives back who was stalking my LFMs and literally did not say or type a word no matter what I typed, until he died and started cursing. I'd thought he was autistic or maybe not English-speaking until then. He was certainly fluent in English swear words.

And don't get me started on people who ignore party applications, letting them just hang...

Anyway, if I even have a point, it takes only a little effort to post "SRE" or the quest name you're doing or to answer a question if your posting isn't clear. If that party leader was that rude, you probably dodged a bullet in that you wouldn't have had a good time in that group anyway.

Yeah, people described above suck. Let's be generous and assume someone snuck cayenne pepper into his coffee, which he accidentally snorted and was spasming in pain, thrashing around he mistakenly hit the button for dismiss and then kicked his computer over before clawing at the ground, trying to reach a sink.

See? He didn't do it on purpose.

MAybe he snorted the cayenne on purpose to cause this chain of events, so that he would seem innocent of purposeful nastiness.

    See, hes evil AND devious.

6 is not at all right, neither is 8, but 2, 3, 7, and 13 are fine.

True - it's possible he dropped his coke into the cayenne pepper, then snorted it purposefully to cause the chain of events that led to the OP's being booted with prejudice.

That, and the OP was seen with the lfm poster's wife...

    It was revenge!
