    Default Finishing move question...

My monk sat at level 28 for quite a while until I recently TR'd him. I'm a little rusty on the monk stuff, but I seem to recall (and I may be wrong about this) that if I did light-light-light moves, my finishing move button would change to the healing finishing move, and would remain that way unless I hit another monk specialty move (basically anything other than basic attack, cleave, great cleave, etc...)

Now it seems that if I prep a finishing move, it disappears if I do anything at all, like pick up a collectible, open a door or a chest, drink a pot, etc..

Is that how it always was and I'm just misremembering? I thought you could prep a finishing move and hold onto it as long as you didn't do any other specialty moves.

    Any help would be appreciated.
All on Thelanis: Archenpaul Sixblade (Epic Triple Completionist), Archernicus Thornwood, Crestellin Moonwood, Gregorovic Redcloak, Jaklomeo Evermug, Jarladdin Nalfesne, Jonathraxius Kane, and Praetoreus Silvershield (Heroic Triple Completionist, Epic Triple Completionist.)

Leader of Guinness Knights (Level 165), which is (since June 2021) a two-man, father-son guild.

    Cogito ergo summopere periculosus.

Doing anything breaks your chain , always has.
Only very few things you can do that don't break the chain , stunning fist, stunning blow , trip, wholeness f body and meditate are about the only things I can think of. Probably the cleaves but never tried them on my monk.

Everything else breaks the chain , opening a door , grabbing a ledge , switching any gear including hand wraps , drinking potions and pretty much everything else you can do in game.

You may also switch Monk stances without losing a charged finisher.

For some greater detail to help you here, including a comprehensive list of what breaks a finisher, see this chapter in my Monk guide.

When I first started playing monks I used this as a guide.

    Note the hot bar setup.
With all the buttons on one bar for attack I found it easy to monitor active finishing moves.
