Turbine made a promise that it would be exclusive. Thats exactly what it should be. Its called INTEGRITY.

If you want something as effective as the cat, then they can throw on a few wiskers on and call it a Wolly Mammoth, or they can make it bald and call it the Hair Club President... ANYTHING but that panther.

That's fine, but so far only a verbal confirmation that Turbine promised. Anyone have text or link that confirms this? I thought it was exclusive, but can't remember for sure - would be nice to see this in writing.

Well maybe sacrifice a bit of ur "principle of the thing" lol and the lights might stay on longer in DDO land. I have them and use them (panthers/owlbears), but either way for the future and good of the game.... I'm willing to let it slide if it brings in some cash to keep things rolling/surviving longer.

Really? A panther will not keep the lights on a day longer. What it will do is **** off some people who thought the panther was exclusive. And finding a quote from 2+ years ago aint gonna make the large majority give a darn because the large majority dont read the forums.

They need to get a little creative, make something new that EVERYbody would (potentially) be interested in buying.

Words 2+ years later dont matter to me. We were all under the impression that if you wanted the panther you needed to buy the prepack. Thats it. Id say 99% of the DDO community understood it as a pre-purchase bonus.

To make matters worse, you needed to spend 80 $mackeroos just to get your hands on it... it wasnt offered in the lesser of the two packs. There are people who purchased this top tier pack because of that panther.

Package panther hireling, spider mask and Haunted Hall pack for $10 and I'd probably buy it.

I know my sons and I would too if we didn't already have the Haunted Halls pack, My husband on the other hand would jump at it because he does not have the pack yet. I have every pack there is, but no pet, no mask. There are a lot of people in the same boat. They would not be able to purchase this.

But is a good idea with it being a bundle offer. Just don't know if it should be bundled with something already available. Perhaps a hireling Pet Bundle would be better. or put it in a new Box, with a stone of xp, pet companion, tome of epic learning and somthing else that is random when you open the box. Make the pet btc if need be and the tome and Stone bta. Know i could use a tome of epic learning on a couple of my other toons and can't find one in the store anywhere for purchase.

I can understand it not being THAT panther. I would love to have it but if it would cause to much grief to those who purchased the Pre-Pack I would love for another pet option to be available. I do not want to offend anyone who did purchase the Pre-Pack. But i do believe something like this could help Turbine make a lot of money. To keep things going.

I am all for something that will help keep the game we all enjoy playing funded to be able to keep playing.

Why not skin the flaming kitty with a tiger , leopard , or spiky finish so that it looks totally different, make it BTA , lv18, job done?

Or give it us a blink dog as a pet, some survivability,strictly core d&d , not too OP? Use a skinned lamannia dog model, bobs yer uncle?

To make money, the panther should be sold on DDO Market along with other stuff to make it a $10 pack.

As far as limited time sale...did they explicitly state that panther permanent hireling will never be sold again?

The coding is there and it's easy money. Especially for newer players who didn't even have a chance at buying it.

Perhaps a compromise can be met.

Offer up a Obsidian panther for sale. Use the same coding with a slightly different skin. Add a disclaimer that only one panther can be summoned at one time.

I am not looking up a two year old post. I say no,Panther peroid enough drizzle clones already but yes to some,other pet

I will say if they go back,on their word that I will never pre-order agsin and will only buy anything if it goes on sale if I buying at all

I didn't get to pre order the pack, i was over the road working ( was a driver at the time gone up to 2 months at a time ) and am sure there are many in the military who did not get a chance to as well...
Just saying not everyone gets the chance to pre order when special items are available.

That's just the way things go if you didn't pre-order for whatever reason then you don't ger the pre-order bonus otherwise why have a pre-order bonus if they did it now they would have a lot of people screaming fraud and crying for a refund or some kind of compensation including myself

From the official FAQ thread on this website, they make no mention of not selling the panther hireling in the future. It's not like it's been 2 months, it's been over 2 years since the initial release of it.

Finally, it is true the MOTU pages no longer mentions the pre-order bonus mainly because it is no longer available. I am not sure why you aren't understanding that.

If the DDO store offered permanent hirelings at a reasonable price I would buy some. I love the suggestion of a Succubus and would add a Medusa to that list. Since I mostly play thieves, a permanent hireling with crowd control skills would open the door to many useful tactics. Given that beings of Khyber often follow unusual alignments, I think a good Succubus and/or Medusa make perfect sense.*

As for the panther...I am not very fond of cats and would prefer hirelings at levels 5, 10, and 15.


* If you want to make such an addition really fun, create an adventure in which we help said Succubus or Medusa, and she decides to join us afterward. I much prefer to earn upgrades through game play rather than as straight store purchases.

There was the panther with one pack and the owlbears with another. I think chances are good there will be another perm hire with a future pack. Maybe include an option to buy previous hires with future pack preorder?

No where is it mentioned that the panther hireling will not be up for sale in the future. So they will have not broken any promises.

It would be in bad taste to offer the panther companion again after selling this as a pre-order bonus for a limited time Collecters edition purchase.
These specific items should never be available again, otherwise whats the point of "limited time offer"
now if they want to unbind the Panther so existing owners can sell them.. there's an option for you...

I read both links you provided.

In the first link, that was a discussion among community members. Not a single post from a DDO representative.

In the second link, Toledo mentions that the Collectors Edition comes with the panther hireling.

In both those links provided, no where is it mentioned that DDO will not sell the panther hireling in the future.

As for pre-order bonus...that's what it is...a bonus. the rest of us who missed out (I wasn't playing back in 2012) and want it are quite willing to pay for it.

As for the changed MotU pages, it may have been in there. I don't know.

People's interpretation of bonus are not the same. I view it as something extra you get now. Not as something I get now that nobody will ever get in the future.


If they ever do put the panther for sale on DDO Market, I will buy it, as I'm sure many others will too.

The Limited Time offer means the package not the contents inside the package. Otherwise no one should be able to purchase the tomes or adventure packs listed.
