game error 201

I know that there is a thread for this error, however I have tried jus abt every thing. after i go to log in and go to the server is when it pops up. how can i fix this when i have even scrubbed my computer and try to reinstall??

Go in to the install folder and look for the .DAT files (you might need to show hidden files) and see how big they are, chances are that they are only 1KB in size and they should be GB's in size, if this is the case then check my signature for "Download DDO".

In Windows Explorer go to top of the window and click Organise>Layout then select Menu Bar, across the top you should see some extra options called File, Edit, View, Tools and Help. Click Tools and go to Folder Options and a window will appear, now click the View tab and will see a long list of options. Select the option which says "Show hidden files, folders and drives" then press OK. You can select the option above it to hide them again once you have finished

Stoner, thanks for the info. I downloaded the game a couple of days ago and when i chose the server and clicked to log in i received the error 201 (twice) and the DDO launcher quit. I checked in the program files (the files weren't hidden) and yes, the .dat files were all just 1 kb. I was using windows 8.1. i uninstalled the game ( using the uninstaller that was in the program files)

To try to solve the problem i downloaded again using an older notebook and version of windows. This worked fine, dat files were all huge. Then i simply copied the 'Dungeons and Dragons online' folder from 'C' drive/program files(x86)/turbine in the old notebook to new the same spot in the new note book. all worked well.

So i didnt actually use your downloads, but i did find your info really helpful to solve my problem. Thanks a bunch.
