    Default Main character cannot log in ... only others can.

    Wierd, huh? My main character, Plumwine (on Thelanis) cannot log in since last Friday. Others can, but when I try to login with him ... "Game Error ... Connection with server has been lost". That has happened at least half a dozen times so far.

    So, what was Plumwine doing last? He had finished the last quest in the line in Schyndylyn (my spelling is wrong!), recalled out into the city ... and was in the process of recalling out to the cavern when he never finished the recall.

    His atoms have not been seen since.

    If this were one of my minor characters, i could not care. However, he has reincarnated many times and was on his way to another reincarnation.

    I sent in a bug report Saturday morning, then noticed it won't get quick response. I cannot ask for help during the game, because I would be on another character and the game master that responds would not have access (I'm assuming) to what would be needed to help out. Besides, the chat server is down so I can't talk to a GM anyway.

    Any thoughts?

    Go to your Dungeons and Dragons Online folder and open UserPreferences file. Look for the UserSpecifiedPort=0. Change 0 to 9000 and save the file. Then try to log to the game, it should help.

    I found the UserPreferences.ini file, but that line of code was not there. Also, out of curiousity ... how could that affect one character without affecting the others?

    P.S. Thanks for trying to help, it's frustrating and scary! I have been playing this game since it hit the market back in the early 21st century. <lol>

    Chances are your character will reset after the maintenance. Your error message is different but the cause is very similar to what happened to me and some other people this one time. Characters got permanently stuck as logged in and needed a 5 minutes server downtime to reset all instances and thus auto log off all characters.

    I have the UserSpecifiedPort at the very end of the file. And how could affect this only one character? Honestly I have no idea. But I had the exact same problem as you and it was really frustrating. I spent a lot of time searching on google and finally found this solution in some very very old archived ddo thread and it helped.

    But I believe that after the downtime, your connection should be cleaned and you'll be able to log in

    Default Same problem

    I am having the same problem. I changed the userspecified port to 9000 and that worked. After downtime was able to log in then as soon as I entered Devil's Assault, I got bounced and now I am back to being unable to log in to my main character. I can log in to other characters. Any thoughts?
