Default SSSl protocol error when i try to use help/submit a ticket.

Pretty much as the title states.

I'm trying to contact an GM as advised by customer service to deal with a character issue.

I'm a premium player and have submitted help tickets with good results in the past.

For some reason now when i hit the help button the screen pops up but all it says is SSL protocol error.

    Anyone have any thoughts??

say thanks to this Awesomium processes (bcoz you cannot change SSL options of this chrome) :sarcasm:

also try to check your C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts - if there any additions you not made, try to edit to original
    Code:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
and see if it helps after reboot

Thw windows SSL protocol permisions are all stored, not in the control panel applet as they should be, but instead deep inside Internet Explorer options, completley contrary to the anti monopoly rules, but whatever, Do this:

IE, options, advanced, make sure SSL is selected. On mind, i have options for ssl2, ssl3, tls 1.0 1.1 and 1.2. all are selected besides ssl2.0.

    2. try the store/help page again. Do they both give error? try waiting a few minutes, then try clicking the reload icon on the store page.

    3. Whats your windows firewall set on? Public or private? change networks recently? move cables around? Sometimes windows will change your network from private to public, or vice versa. Each one, has its own permissions for programs. Control panel, windows firewall, Allow a program or feature, change settings, and look for DDO, turbine, launcher, etc. dndclient, etc. make sure both public and private are selected, and look for multiples of the same name, such as several entries for dndclient, make them all checked public and private.

    4. Can you make any SSL connections? google test ssl connections, or go to a website that you know has SSL and see if it works, so we know if this is just DDO or not.

    5. Control panel, default programs, set default programs. click on internet exporer, click on set this program as default, click ok. try your ssl connection again.

    6. now try internet explorer, tools, options, advanced, and click on reset near the bottom. try again, reboot, try again.

    7. do you have a router firewall? try bypassing it and hook up drirectly to the internet and check again. watch out for windows wanting to change your network from private to public, and thus your firewall permission, as above.

    good luck

..only bad that IE and Chrome have different SSL settings =))

and Awesomium that DDO now using is standalone chrome, not IE..

And yet, this very moment: When I enter Internet Explorer tools, options, advanced: And Uncheck all the SSL and TLS options, hit ok, and exit IE?

Boom, No SSL error on DDO.

It appears to be using TLS 1.0 on my system.

I tried everything, all the way up to sending support my misinfo and getting an answer of "Try uninstalling and re-installing IE". That was after `4 days-ish. Then I got impatient and called support. 2-3 minutes later and they filed the in game support ticket for me and now I'm just waiting for a GM response. Will update when problem is solved!

    --Edit--

Done and Done. Actually, done like 7 minutes ago.

I know it doesn't actually solve the SSL error problem, but it's a great work around.

I talked with customer support about this for months back and forth and many many things they wanted me to try all failed. Basically I just gave up, got tired of the back and forth.
What they pretty much told me was since I use windows xp for the game i would never get that page. And something about using any version of IE8+ would do the same thing. They also mentioned that if I used IE8+ to access the account page it would happen also, but since I only use firefox/chrome I never knew that. But sadly the game uses IE or whatever so broke.
It definately does suck if you need to contact a gm or access the help/bug page in game, but I just figured that's one less bug report I will file, and if I'm in a group someone else will just have to do it.
