    Question Elven Arcane Archer Requirements

I have an older arcane archer. Once we went through the enhancement changes, he has been sitting, as I need to respec him. As I look into Elven Arcane Archer enhancement tree, and comparing to the Ranger tree, I saw something interesting. The Ranger tree has an added "Magical Training" effect for rank 3 of Energy of the Wild. I think it used to be that one of the requirements of AA was Magical Training, which only came from level 1 of certain caster classes.

Is Magical Training no longer required for AA? Or is it required only for the Elven AA?

If anyone knows for certain what the requirements are these days for AA, I'd appreciate some guidance. I could not find such info on ddowiki.com.

    TIA

There are no longer any feat pre-reqs for AA (or DWS or Tempest).

So - I am not required to take any levels in a caster class - even for Elven AA? I could, if I wished, go 20 levels of Fighter?

I think you theoretically could go 20 levels of fighter but many of the arcane archer abilities require mana or spell points and while the tree will give you some spell points I don't think they'd be enough to power up your arcana archer effectively.

If OP plays a pure ftr AA, then he would have to take at least the first rank of Arcanam (25 SPs); then he can take EotW for another 100 SPs and Magical Training; add in Soul Magic & Moonbow for temp SPs. And that's before he equips any SP items. I wouldn't worry about it too much. That said, I don't see the advantage of a pure ftr AA.

Before the Enhancements revamp, the character was a Kensai AA. This is my starting point.

Right now I am looking at the advantages of having that many feats. It is probably too many, so, yeah, I will likely splash something, but not yet sure what.

The main incentive for pure ftr is Kensei capstone; but because of the Doubleshot penalty from Manyshot, it's actually not that useful to an AA. If you want a full-time archer, you want a monkcher - period; there's simply nothing as good as 10K Stars available to non-monkchers. If you can't or don't want to make a monkcher (or even if you do), there's still strong incentive for a heavy rgr splash for access to DWS; in particular, Sniper Shot + Aimed Shot for the extra crit dmg (these should multi-proc while MS or 10K is active), as well as the increase in PBS range.
