    Hard to give any help based on what you have said, more information is needed...

    - What OS are on? Windows 7? Windows 8? Mac?
    - Assuming you are on Windows do you have all the updates?
    - Again assuming Windows do you have the latest version of DirectX installed?
    - What are your system specifications? total RAM, CPU type and clock speed etc (to work out if your machine can actually run the game).

    Look like I'm hit by this problem too on my new computer...

    Launcher starts, I enter the account information, get to the world selection screen, click on enter world and nothing happens... Launcher closes and dndclient does not launch.

    I did check my firewall settings against Turbine list, it's ok.

    The install is a fresh Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Now since I've reused some old install files and the put in place the directory from my old computer I might have been missing something... I'm trying to update that old version install right now.

    Try updating .NET framework and DirectX and see if that helps, since you get to pick the world the game seems to have all the files it needs so it could be that something else is missing or not quite right somewhere.

    Oh tried PyLoTRO too and it didn't work....

    Still downloading iteration right now, so not trying anything right now...

    Oh and I have a funny UserPreferences.ini :
    Code:

    [Launcher]
    AllowMultipleInstances=true
    FirstRun=false
    UseHighResolutionGameData=true
    WindowGeometry=@ByteArray(\x1\xd9\xd0\xcb\0\x1\0\0\0\0\x5\xff\0\0\0\xfe\0\0\t\x1\0\0\x3:\0\0\x5\xff\0\0\0\xfe\0\0\t\x1\0\0\x3:\0\0\0\0\0\0)
    LastLocale=en-US
    SelectLastPlayedWorld=false

    [User_1]
    UserName=<username>
    WorldName_1=Ghallanda
    LastPlayed_1=2014-08-23T19:49:41
    UserFileName_1=en-DDO-EULA-Turbine-html
    UserAckTime_1=2013-07-25T19:34:48
    UserFileName_2=en-DDO-TOS-html
    UserAckTime_2=2013-07-25T19:34:49
    [HttpProxy]
    HttpProxyAccess=PreConfig
    HttpProxy=:0
    HttpProxyAuthenticate=False
    HttpProxyUsername=
    HttpProxyPassword=
    HttpProxyBypass=
    so my next step once it has downloaded the 36K iterations will be to cross check the UserPreference.ini with one from another computer.

    Edit : checked the other PC... same content in the UserPreferences.ini at least for the parts mentioned... there's more parts in the one that works...

    Ok, once It did download the 36K iterations, the game started fine.
    I had to restart the launcher manually at some point ( around 24k ).... and after the restart it started with the akamai nuisance... so I switched to PyLOTRO to finish the update after getting rid of what akamai sneaked on my system despite the fact that I clicked on quit and didn't agree to the eula ... and making sure it was fully purged.... I'll probably have to wait for the next update to be able to reuse the normal launcher.

    So in the end I suspect that I was missing a DLL or some executable in the DDO directory that got installed during the update, and that's what was blocking the game from starting.

    Default Also having problem with game starting

    I seem to be having the same issues as listed above. New Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit build. Launcher runs, scans for updates - completed, login - successful, select server - status UP, and... nothing. No error codes, Turbine Launcher process just ends. I do not understand what you mean when you're talking about 36K interations downloaded, to get the game started.

    Is there another launcher available to start the game?

    What I meant is that instead of downloading the game, I used an install package that I had saved on an external HDD... This install package is from 2010 and was the one used at that time, as it came through Pando.

    Now, while my PC is new, I have SSD and HDDs that came from a previous PC, where DDO was installed, so I tried to reuse the old DDO, instead of going through the whole update process by renaming the newly installed DDO ( from the 2010 install ) directory and by copying the DDO directory recovered from the old PC.

    That's when I encountered the problem. So I went back and removed the DDO directory I just copied over and renamed the directory of the 2010 install to it's rightful name.
    Then I started the launcher and waited for hours while it downloaded the game update ( thus the 36K iterations )

    As alternate launcher you have either PyLOTRO or DDO-ML. Both works fine, and you can find the relevant threads on the forums.

    Now during my troubleshooting I looked at all the logfiles... and it would be interesting to know what's in your :
    - C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons Online\Launcher\DNDLauncher.log
    - and the newest C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons Online\Launcher\Launcher_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.log ( where XX...X is a string of digits )

    Just be careful to check them before posting them and to remove the account information they might contain.
    Especially the line : ( DNDLauncher.log )
    Code:
     2014.08.22 21:20:22[W] GameClientStarter::OnLoginAccountRequestDone - User Name:  "<Flavilandile Account>"
    Also instead of posting them complete try to locate error messages in them, and post just that.
    I had a lot of error messages in the top of the launcher file when I had the issue.
