    Default Game suddenly got darker

In between game sessions, with no changes to my computer, I seem to have lost the ability to control the brightness level in the game. Everything is much darker. Outside DDO, everything looks fine.

Changing the brightness, contrast and gamma settings doesn't seem to make any difference to the brightness in game. They worked fine an hour earlier (well I assume so, since they had the settings I've been using for years.) Also, whatever I change them to, when I restart the game they are back to the default settings. Other game settings appear to be functioning normally.

It's acting as if it can't read or write those values to the file, whatever file that may be.

I am running DirectX9 on Windows 8.0. Anything more recent crashes the video card eventually, apparently a known problem with Windows 8.

There is no sign that the video card is failing in any way ... appears to be working fine.

If I didn't already know most of these dungeons by heart the game would be unplayable. As it is, I resort to the underdark glasses a lot now.

I'd like to buy a clue please, Vanna.

If you have a recent restore point for your system to a date before the change, I would try that. Computesr often ninja update, and I've had the idiots at Microsoft screw up both my internet card and my video card in those ninja updates before. If not change, you've at least ruled out one possibility.
