I'm having problems doing the initial install of DDO. I used to play a few years ago, took a break, and now I'm getting back into it. The client's been long uninstalled and formatted over in the past, so this is an entirely fresh install.
Symptoms:
When I start up the launcher it does the Akamai install agreement (I'll uninstall that **** when the client is done, but whatever) and begins downloading. As it progresses, my internet connection gets slower and slower as it seems to speed up. But then at a certain point, all progress halts, and I can't access anything by DNS entry. I can ping things just fine, accessing pages via IP address sometimes works, IM services seem to be unaffected, however everything else seems to be halted. I have to cold boot my DSL modem and router to restore net access.
Troubleshooting:
I've tried multiple ways to install. I've tried the full downloader in the default location, in a custom location (C:\Games\Dungeons & Dragons Online), and downloaded an old full installer from FilePlanet (version 8, so unsurprisingly it didn't work). I've also tried DDO-ML, but it insists:
Code:
Your DDO game directory "C:\Games\Dungeons & Dragons Online" does not appear to be right.
Try specifying your full absolute path to DDO through the -g option.
