Ok, this is interesting. I installed DDO on my VAIO flip through Steam and it works fine. Unfortunately, this is not an ideal gaming computer, especially with its horrid touch pad. But I believe that means we can rule out any problems with the modem/router. Per my previous post, we can also rule out Windows Defender and MSE (which are both running on my laptop as well).

So what does that leave? I guess the driver (up to date), the BIOS (up to date), or some weird hardware issue. I can run other MMO's just fine except for LotRO (which was working three months ago before I uninstalled it). I guess there could also be some weird registry issue causing problems, but I wouldn't know what to look for in there and I don't poke around in there unless I have some specific targets.

    I'm totally stumped!!

Having similar issues after I updated my windows 7 for the first time in two months (its been a very busy two months). I am only having issues with DDO, I can run DDO on other crappier computers on my network but not on my main computer which I enjoy playing on. Very annoying.

I have completely turned off my firewall and I only use manual anti-virus programs with no real time going.

I will let you guys know if I find anything that works - not that I have the time to really tinker with stuff right now.

Ok really odd - my problem seems to be account based. I can log on my wife's account just fine on the computer having issues, but not my main account. On my crappy computer I have no issues logging on either account.

In addition to updateing windows I also picked up new inventory slots for a dozen characters, I wonder if for some odd reason my computer is timing out from the shear number of characters and inventory slots.

I am going to try to reset my account settings and see if that helps on my main computer.

After talking back and forth with Turbine Support, it was looking more and more like the problem was with some IE add-ons that I was not able to get rid of <glares at AVG>. I tried to downgrade IE back to the base Windows install version (not easy), then update it back, but I kept running into issues, so I ended up rebuilding my system with Windows 8.1. Since then, I have had no issues.
