Well considering I paid just a little more to get the PHB for a better game system plus the book looked so,much better I think it's to much for what I consider a inferior product, I like my rpg books to,have cool art. One of the local game shops has people gaga over it but most are sticking to,pathfinder or 3.5 but I have some hopes of converting them to my favorite system the only sticking point is the dog isn't out yet but that's not that important I have the beta of that delight.

It's been a long time but I think I payed like 35 C$ for the 3.5 PHB. And I remember folks just printing their friends' PHB in black and white for like 5$. At 58$ I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people just do that instead...

I have not played the 4th ed, you say the 5th ed is no good?

It's actually not to bad I prefer 3.5 not fan of pathfinder and my actual game of choice is much better than any of them although a lot of people may not like it due to it's lower power level and low magic level

Well mainly most likely it's what I am use to,and don't need to spend more on another version of d&d when I already have the rules but as I said I mainly use another game that isn't as exploitable as d&d but as far as dnd next I think classes are more clearly defined in 3.5 than 5.0 and not even going to bother with 4E

I'm actually liking this new edition a lot now that I"ve played several sessions and gotten my hands on the actual PHB.

There are some minorly irritating rules, but for the most part it's simplified it down and put the creativity and flexibility back into the hands of the players and the dms rather than trying to cover everything with rules. It's more streamlined, and we've been having a blast and the players have been getting really creative in their responses to situations since they don't 'need a feet to do that'.

Combat is faster, which is great for role-play heavy and hack and slash groups alike, you can get a lot more done. There are some weird changes to racial and class skills(poor dwarves, stonecunning is really stupid now for example), but we're adjusting okay.

I'm reading through the PHB now and as someone who has played 3.5 for years I like this newer version and am looking forward to running it.
