Default 1st (2nd?) life FvS builds?

So first, I'm a fairly casual player but I finally managed to get to 2500 favor to unlock Favored Soul, and so now I'd like to give FvS a spin to see what it's like, since I've never played one before. I'm not great a building characters, so I came here looking for ideas, but it seems like most of the builds assume numerous past lives or are building for EE content.

Any recommendations or links to good solid FvS builds for a 1st life character? It's possible that I'd TR my lvl 20 wizard into a FvS build for this, although I may let him continue to accrue favor for now. So I'm also thinking I'd just create a new character.

I'm not wild about the idea of combining FvS with Wiz or Sorc -- I feel like I've done a bunch of Wizarding already. I was hoping to see some evidence that FvS combines well with Rogue, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'd like this guy to be more on the melee side, if that's doable. I don't have access to Monk, btw (since I know everyone loves Monks these days). So it seems like Paladin is a good bet?

Anyway, any pointers are appreciated. Just keep in mind that I don't have TR gear or completionist anything. Thanks!

it depends what you want, caster or melee fvs does both quite well
and what you want to build for, 1-20, epics, epic elite?

rogue is not as handy as monk but either way evasion is great to have because fvs gets nice base saves

Probably for Heroic content. As I said, I'm fairly casual and have only dipped my toes into Epic Normal on my existing characters, with mixed results. And EE, no way

so i suppose you are after a caster then?

i would say human 18 fvs 2 monk is the best way to go
    level order
    fmffffffmffffffffff

    starting stats
    10 str
    8 dex
    14 con
    10 int
    18 wis<level up points here
    14 cha

    feats
1 empower, mental toughness, sov host
    2 toughness
    3 maximise
    6 evocation focus
9 spell pen, toughness(or lightning reflexes)
    12 quicken
    15 greater evocation focus
18 imp mental toughness(or greater spell pen)

skills -spellcraft, heal, consentration, balance on monk levels, 1 point in tumble

ideally you will want to use a robe and staff(or kamas if you can find them) with radiance/impulse and + evocation dc so you are able to stay in monk water stance(+2 saves and +2 wisdom)

I appreciate you taking the time to write that out.. it gives me some notion of what to look out for. Just to point out, though, from my OP:

So thanks again for the suggestion -- it just makes me laugh, though, that you suggested a caster w/ monk levels.

hah silly me. melee fvs as a couple routes depending on what weapons you want to use, the most common would be warforged with a 2h sword or human with longswords twf or swf i suppose would work better now since warpriest t5 has stuff that goes well with high attack speed.
personally id love to see how a drow arti short sword swf warpriest swashbuckler would go but maybe not for a first life character ^^

paladin does work well with fvs to get super saves but with no monk to grant extra feats or evasion for a class that already grants no extra feats it gets a bit tight (7 feats +faith and +resists)

levels: after 12 fvs i feel you could go anywhere with the rest of your levels, fighter for feats, paladin for saves, rogue for evasion, ranger if twf, wizard for metamagic feats and eldritch knight tree, arti if swf or just keep going with fvs. its up to you to put together what you want most, ddowiki can help with that

    stats to keep in mind
    str for damage and accuracy
dex for twf (base + tome = 17 at least)
wis for casting dc (little to nothing here if you dont want to use offensive spells)
cha for more sp and 1/2 charisma to your str
    con for hp(12-14 should do)

    feats you will want
    twf,thf or swf x3
    power attack
    improved crit
cleavesx2 and/or maximize, and quicken for your heals and no save spells(divine punishment in particular)

hope that helps, i couldnt think of a specific build but hopefully you can use my ramblings to make something cool yourself

thanks again! This is definitely useful, especially since I'm horrible at figuring out all of this stuff on my own. Much appreciated.
