I like the idea of cosmetic armor and helms.
I have even bought a few. Unfortunately, I do not like most of them because there just isn't any armor to protect you. They either have too much skin showing or look like body paint.


How about some thing off this page.

Or maybe something more roman is style for light/medium armor like these. (I do not know how the stormtrooper snuck in there.)
