Throwing builds for another arty tree

Artificer only has two trees and needs a third. With renewed interest in various throwing builds, it would be cool to have a third tree support various throwing builds and make things like throwing hammers and darts useful. I could even see a build with arty for the thrower support and swashbuckler for wind at my back or something like that, maybe with dwarf throwing axes or hammers. It would be nice to see diversity in throwers, and the class feats for ranged in arty would synergize nicely. Plus the runearm additions, of course.

The simplest solution (which I campaigned for pre-U22) is to add the Swashbuckler tree to arties. It would be an easy port: there are already synergies with Runearms (Cannoneer); and Tavern Shanties is the only bard-specific enhancement in the tree.

Although it does open the door to arty / monk / kensei SWF hybrids, so I'm not sure if that's such a wise idea after all.

This sounds pretty nice. If they did this they need to include something like "Shuriken Expertise" perhaps making it work with Intelligence.

Why would they "need" to include "something like Shuriken Expertise" when you can just take Shuriken Expertise? There's no monk pre-preq attached to it, after all; and even if you go INT-based you're not gonna want to dump DEX on a thrower due to feat pre-reqs (IPS & CA).

What I want to see is something "like" 10K Stars which doesn't require monk that's tied to DEX instead of WIS, so that monkchers and Shuricannons aren't the only viable "sustained ranged DPS" options for archers & throwers.

This. Though I would like to see shuriken expertise expanded into "Throwing Expertise". Make it work with everything, so that shurikens aren't the only viable throwing weapon.



And Kensei/monk/swashbucklers are a very scary proposition... Hell, swf kensei monks already seem pretty powerful.

How about a Two Thrown Weapon Fighting line. Yeah.

Prereq of dex 17, 18 and 19 for base, improved and greater. Uses the same off-hand bonuses as TWF and can utilize 10k Stars for each hand. Plus, you get to have a whole, new animation...

Make an ultimate weapon. Force damage and adding Slash, Piercing, and Bludgeoning to your main hand. oops wrong thread.

I'd rather see something that matched the flavor of Artificer, like Master Inquisitive, Rogue Mastermaker, or even some sort of Cannith Wand Adept that makes you uber with wands.

Master Thrower would be fun as a rogue or halfling tree. Fighters could get Exotic Weapons Master to cover several bases at once. I just don't see artificers making sense as a throwing weapon focused class, though.
