    Default The Otto Box

Why can't the Otto Box be a permanent item? I know it is an exclusive item, but if it was always there to buy I would spend at least $60 on top of my vip every two weeks. The hard thing is when you pick the dates and they don't match pay schedule. I understand that your not going to please every single person, but it would be nice to have more of a feature. More times then not the stone of xp would be a great item to have in the store. Your on that one life that it just terrible and you feel like either taking a break from the character or a break from ddo. I have toons that are just not very good but I have one toon that I have TR's a Dozen and a half times and I am still in the process of trying to get triple completion. I will be buying two of these boxes tomorrow since that is pay day. If it was also there to be purchased on the 15th of August I would buy another two boxes. That is 200 dollars worth of points in two weeks. I am not the only one who would spend a good amount on these either. They are wonderful to use and the benefits are just insane. If the ddo community bought at least 20 boxes that is at least $2000. I know people would buy more than 20. I am saying that this is your money maker! Why not keep it?

Boxes are normally available near the end of a quarter, the rarity makes them sell quickly over a short amount of time. The Otto Boxes is the McRib of DDO.

Marketing strategies aside, there is also the issue of having people running the game at all levels. The devs do have to consider more than just the otto's gains when they decide how often to make something like that available, they also have to consider the effect on the game and playerbase as a whole.

ETA: PS - for the man with the monthly payment issue, might I suggest the tactic I use when I want money sitting around for a large purchase, starting a savings account that I use strictly for this purpose and putting small amounts in monthly til I have what I need sitting around for the purchase. Then it will be there waiting, not spent because it's in easy arms reach, when the boxes come out.

Savings account? What is that? A new form of tech. from Star Trek? After all we already have cell phones.

Just kidding. I deal with allot of folks via my job and it seems nobody has a savings account anymore. Sad. Sometimes delayed gratification is a good thing and makes you appreciate your purchase more and take care of it.

I think savings accounts went the way of patience and the Dodo Bird

I find the phrases "delayed gratification" and "patience" to be quite odd within a discussion of Otto Boxes i.e. Past Life in a box.

Well, I have three. One for emergencies, one for general household funding in case either of us loses their job, and one for my specific I want this and need to reach x amount of money to get it.
