have you been running in the same epic destiny the entire time? The destiny xp caps at 1,980,000 but you still earn xp towards epic levels. If you look carefully there should be a little icon you can click to toggle the display between destiny xp and regular xp.

In other words, you're fine but you might want to start leveling up a different destiny.
