Vanguard by nature is a master at front-line defenses and physical damage mitigation. Additionally having the ability to increase dps through a line in both a racial and class enhancement trees. Shield Mastery (IMO) should be auto-granted at lvl 2
Classes available, Fighter, Paladin. Preferred races Dwarf & Human. Con. Str & Dex bonuses should be class focus as well.
B.A.B. starting at lvl 6, a multiplier should be added to the current BAB table
Lvl 6 = 1
Lvl 8 = 2
Lvl 12 = 3
Lvl 18 = 4
Lvl 20 = x 5
Fort & will saves should follow a similar progression.
AC & PRR, Bonuses should be progressive at the same levels class bonus feats are awarded.
Ideas for class features.
Vanguard threat generation
Armour Mastery, Improved, Superior, Excellent (also ignores speed penalty)
Deflect Crippling, Self lvl 6, Area at lvl 8
Ground Stomp (poor man's earthquake) increases area & duration @ 3 levels
Elemental Shield, Provide a stacking elemental deflection self @ lvl 6, area @ lvl 8, increases @ 3 lvls
Tactical Maneuvering, Suffer no penalty for attacking while moving
Vanguard Sunder, reduce fort by %(?) for 3,6,12 seconds, 10% chance knock down & helpless
Vanguard Cleave, Deals .5w plus increased range, (stacks w/ C & GC)
Vanguard Healing, 10, 20, 30% (stacks w/ racial)
Weapon Training, THF, TWF, S&B (not bucklers)
Vanguard Roar, on crit will save or die, Sonic damage + fear?
Superior Threat, (fill in the blanks) *should be the ultimate attainable*
Dwarven & Human Commander, adds maximized racial abilities.
