PDK, did I bungle?

So i decided to make a PDK fighter with 2 rogue for evasion. Wasnt until I got to about level 16 that I saw this enhancement:
Cormyrean Knight Training: You now use Charisma or Strength, whichever is higher, for attack and damage with shortswords, longswords, bastard swords, and greatswords.

When building the character, I mostly shirked Charisma, and went for a STR build. Would it be better to LR and start with my CHA higher than my STR?

If I remember right, I started with STR at 18, and left CHA alone.

No you made the right choice.
There are far more ways to increase your str than your charisma.

The Cha thing is good if you want to do a EK sorc or a melee bard that can still do some casting but that is about all.
Maybe a FvS could get some benifit as well , maybe

its usually better to use strength as its required for feats, but if you have levels in clr, fvs, or pal then having some charisma adds to your strength through the use of divine might (most high-end dps builds use pal to add cha bonus to str, but also cha bonus to saves) if your not planning on adding any of those levels or your not a bard there is no reason to really have charisma unless you are a class that uses it
