Perhaps it's just me, but after reading countless threads about how to balance X or improve old thing Y, it all boils down to how much of a bonus the thing gives you. Epic Claw of Vulkoor used to give +4 to damage, and was the bees knees. Now there's a better way to do that, one that "relatively" speaking, requires less effort than what farming a Epic Gloves of the Claw Scroll used to take. So the outcry (which I was a part of) was to give eClaw something that made it worth having or give us a way to upgrade it to make it viable at the new endgame. There is a thread below/above this one concerning that very thing. And while yes, the Dev's could (re: never will) give eClaw +10 Strength or +6 to damage at the cost of upgrading them and losing your level 20 set to use while TR'ing/whatever, all that does is just turn the Planar Focus into something useless. So maybe while Planar Focus could be level 24-27, the "new" eClaw would be level 28-30, eventually both things will be pointless and some random generated Master Craftsmanship item will have +14 Strength or what have you.
Now here's the thing; yes that is how it's always been, bigger and better numbers to do the thing with the hitting the mobs, etc, but I can't help but feel like it's become almost demeaning to even think about named loot now, when in two updates everything becomes worthless in comparison. Perhaps I have nostalgia blinders on, but I coulda sworn that all epic loot used to work in harmony in a sense; Gloves from Fens, Boots from Gianthold, Rings and Belts/Necklaces from ToD, (not technically epic but still) Dragontouched armor from Reaver's, etc.
I suppose what I'm saying is that I'd like new aspects of the game to come into play, new weapon types maybe, new gear slots, new feats/tactics, new fighting styles, new classes and the like. I'm tired of "Big Dragon(s) in enclosed space with optional rock (it's a mineral Marie) in the center".
There were more words I was supposed to type, oh well.
