AFAIK, Keen Edge applies to unarmed combat if you've got Martial Arts or Druidic focus. But if you're trying to focus on crit dmg on a monk / kensei, you're better off using weapons with good crit profiles, IMHO. On an unarmed build, I would rather have Empty Hand Mastery from Shintao; if Earth Stance, I'd add Violence Begets Violence; and if pure monk, I'd take Meditation of War + capstone as well.

As the above have stated, maybe it would work but it would not be the best use of it.
All the enhancements that favor an expansion of the critical hit range are designed for weapons that have a high crit multiplier (minimum x3, Khopesh, picks, bows, etc.) and often a poor crit range with which to begin (so a heavy pick has 20/x4; having that expanded doubles its crit profile to 19-20/4; add IC: Piercing and you get 16-20/4, hence many big critical hits). Unarmed combat has a very poor crit profile. I believe it is 20/x2, probably the worst in the game after teaspoons. People who go for a monk with 8 fighter take advantage of the One With Blade that allows for being centered with the weapon in focus--then add in one with a high crit multiplier--then add keen edge to boost its range like the Picks example above. Having Monk bonuses behind such weapons is a deadly combination.
