Default Client crash after leaving Korthos and entering The Harbor

    Greetings.

I have an annoying problem and dont know how to solve it. Started yesterday a character, finished the first village quests (Korthos) without any problems.
Now its like that, everytime I travel with the ship to the next location (The Harbor) the client crashes 3-4 seconds after arrive.
After restart, same problem. Just got 5-10 seconds, than dndclient crashes again, except I am fast enough and return to Korthos, than its ok.

I checked the client log and thats what I found:

How much RAM does your machine have? You want at least 4Gb, ideally 8Gb, otherwise you could be paging a lot.
How big is your page table? The actual error message makes it sound like it's running out of page space on disk.
Is the hard drive you have Windows on nearly full? If not, you could try making your page table much larger -
    try doubling it to start.

    Reinstall the game?

Move the patchcache.bin file from your ddo game directory to your desktop and it should force a re-patch. Maybe that would help? Doing so is definitely not supported by Turbine. So if that doesn't work, reinstalling the game should.

It sounds like some files may be damaged or corrupt, so when you go to switch instances, it crashes.

Do you have the game client set to German as well?

Try setting it too English and see if that makes a difference.

The foreign language versions are no longer officially supported and can be buggy sometimes. (Although I haven't heard of game crashes before.)

Happy to get such fast replies.

Ok, I m running DDO on a PC with 8GB ram. Disk Space should be more than enough (bout 200GB on both partitions).

To check my page file size, I made a dxdiag... Looks like everything's fine with the size of that (nrly 14GB free):

Repatching didnt work, did a new install... still same problem. Too bad, looks like a good old game.
Maybe I will install it on the PC of my GF. Windows 7 does not really like this game, got furthermore that Visual C++ 2005 install error, but that would be just annoying, not causing the crash, it worked properly with that while I was in Korthos.

I'm actually having the exact same problem as the OP. My system is new (out of the box less then 5 days & Windows 8) and I just returned to the game. I've tried the suggested fixes but to no avail. This happened with both a lvl 2 entering the Harbor from Korthos and a lvl 18 entering from the Marketplace. I've even gone so far as to turn all graphics as low as they could go and default settings to see if there was a conflict there. I haven't had a chance yet to VIP the account again but I'm wondering if the bug could have anything to do with being a premium account. I'll be VIP again by the weekend but I'm nervous about sinking money into the game if this is an unresolvable issue.

I can assure you it has nothing to do with VIP - this is a technical glitch.

If you're not seeing crashes with any other games, we'll assume it's not a hardware problem,
but if you have seen any other crashes, I'd run memtest86+ so you can make a warranty claim
against the memory if the test fails.

Moving along - which installer did you use? If you used the "play instantly" install, I'd recommend
re-installing from scratch using the "install, then play" option found here:

Not sure about your first issue but the second Visual C++ 2005 is easy to fix, open the 3rd party folder in your DDO folder and install vcredist_x86 along with vcredist_x86_VC8_SP1. (Long shot on first issue, install dotnetfx as well, DDO is rather picky with vcredist_x86 and could very well be with framework.)

    Best of luck.
