    Default Monkcher feedback

    My first attempt at making a Monkcher, feedback appreciated. 12/7/1 12 Ranger for Imp Precise Shot and skills, 7 Monk for 10K Stars and Wholeness of Body, 1 Fighter for feat. Dex based Elf for Aerenal Grace. 2nd life build.

    General questions:

    What twink gear should I use for leveling? I've got my Ioun Stones and a Quivering Quiver, what else?
    Any build-related bugs I should know about? (Besides Alacrity, of course)
    How do I make the character planner accept gear? The Equipment option is greyed out, and always has been in my experience.
    Why do most Monkchers go for WIS? I've never had any trouble hitting anything post-MotU. Is there some way to add WIS to bow damage?
    What should my Crafting level be before I TR? What major things, besides +5 Enhancement bonus, should I have a 50% chance to craft?

    1. Get some nice handwraps, you'll find bow dps is abysmal until you get improved precise shot, meleeing till then will be almost mandatory. If you don't mind cannith challenges, the bracers of wind and icy robes are great, the sora kell set is also covers some gear quite nicely.

    2b. Not really build related bugs, but I think you'll find that an 11ranger/6monk/3arti (or rogue) may end up being a better build, there's no bonus feats with 12ranger & the level 12 core abilities in deepwood/AA are pretty weak. Picking arti will give you room to fit in elemental weapons for an extra d6 damage, umd and trap skills, with some careful skill distribution you should be able to maintain full ranks in trapping skills. (spot is a monk skill) (search is a ranger skill). I don't think you'll find much need for wholeness of body, nor will it be that effective with only 7monk levels.

    2c. At 3, you picked up weapon focus ranged, at 6 you picked up power critical. Instead, you could pick up dodge at level 3, and "master of forms" at level 12. Instead of getting +2 damage per crit, you could have a +1 critical modifer on 19/20 when running in earth stance. Maybe pick up quicken Instead of power critical. This would improve your offense and your defense and provide more reliable emergency healing.

    2d. Given that i've just ruined your day telling you you'll need to go str based, you may want to try pick up Overwhelming critical, If you give up shot on the run, Mobility, and great dex, you could pick up OC at level 27.
    Starting stats, 16str +3tome+4 levels, 18dex+3tome, 10con, 8int, 16wis+3tome+remainder of levels, 8cha (don't be worried about 10con, by the time you reach epic levels you'll be able to hit 800+ hp)

    3. The character planner is so outdated regarding gear that even if it did work it's not worth taking into consideration, that's why the dev team have ignored gear recently whilst keeping up with all the build changes that have occured over the past 2 years.

    4. Wisdom doesn't only effect too hit, the higher your wisdom the greater the liklihood of getting additional arrows when using 10k stars, after qualifying for overwhelming critical Wisdom is your most important stat for boosting dps.

    5. When you TR all the decreasing rewards for all your crafting recipies get reset. I'd just level up as far as you can with the cheapest ingredient : xp ratio then TR when you run out of ingredients. Note. an invulnerability item is probably the single best item you can craft yourself, they're great defense till around level 9+

    Thanks so much for your reply! I think I might know enough now to make a good build. I thought Master of Forms was autogranted, that really would have messed me up!

    forms feats are granted at monk levels 1,6,12 & 18.

    If you don't have that many monk levels you can choose them at 6+,12+ & 18+

    I was aware that the Monk Ninja Spy Advanced Ninja Training's Dex to damage with Bow was taken away.

    Are you saying the Elven Grace Dex to damage with bows is not working?

    1- Quiver of Alacrity has no level requirement and if you can manage to get one from the Abott raid, you will be glad you did.
    An option is a crafted necklace that grants 10% ranged alacrity.

    He is my bow progression:
    Crafted bleed/acid bow for lvl 1-4
    The Greatbow of the Scrag for lvl 4-6.
    Silverbow level 6-12
    Greensteel level 12-14
    Unwavering Ardency level 14-20 (if you can get from Abbot)
    Alchemical level 20-23
    Pinion level 23 -28 (I use at end game)
    Complete Thunderforged Level 28 (Main end game bow with Mortal Fear ability)

    Other things to collect for twink are Greensteel items for HP and SP boosts useable at level 11. Dragontouched armor, old heroic black scale armor if you have (ranged alacrity), wretched twilight (cloak from Abbot) and the AA tod ring set at level 18 (you will eventually ween yourself off that).

    As far as the other questions, I think those have been answered. There are two heavily referenced builds out there, one being more self sufficient and the other focused on burst DPS. I would take a look at those and maybe create your own off those. Personally, I did a hybrid taking the DPS elements of the STR build and the healing skills and self sufficency from the other and meshed it together.

    I'm also trying to create a build like this. Probably not bothered about having a superhero and more interested in playing mid level adventures.

    No gear specified, no past lives, likely tomes but what do you think of this build?
