"Connection to the server has been lost" over and over on character creation

Hello,

I've been trying to create a character all day for DDO but every time I get to the last part and I hit "create" the game then stays forever loading and then goes "Connection to the server has been lost".

The game is allowed through the firewall and I have no issues with any other MMO.

What's going on?

I'm not sure if it will help,

But I have this kind of issue when I forget to kill my Symantec Endpoint Protection services on my work laptop.

DDO needs UDP and TCP connections to the outside world. Maybe the rules in your firewall do not allow everything.

Unfortunately no, it's the normal windows firewall

I think what happens is that the game times-out because it takes so damm long between character creation screens. I have a pretty beefy machine (for DDO) so this is somewhat jarring.

I've also forwarded the required ports on the router to be safe, and I'm using the pre-loader

Same problem here. This didn't happen a few months ago when I last logged in o.O
