Sickles already exist in DDO; do you mean scythes?
More polearms would be the easiest to implement if they just re-use the staff animations; after all, Sireth is technically a spear, even though it's typed as a staff.

Yeah. Scythes. My mistake, thanks ^^
yeah, I would love scythes. Should be easy enough since they are already in Cerulian Hills. Spears I could see too, but I'd prefer not adding too many new weapons. There are already quite a few choices. I'd also worry that they'd be too powerful when placed in-game (ala khopeshes, in which I believe Turbine has admitted that the stats were a mistake) or not worth it anyway.
-Anything is possible....if you don't understand the problem.
-Better to be perceived a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt.
-Luck is simply a crossroads between circumstance and knowledge, both are things you can control.
If each weapon had an advantage, such as spears set against a charge having quadruple damage and large weapons attacking at half speed in close quarters then more various weapons would make sense. As it stands, we have almost no need for a dagger or a light mace, because there is a bigger weapon doing more DPS with no drawback.
Give each weapon a situation where it is the best option and you will see a need for more weapons.
My Personal List of wpn wants:
Spears {NOT Staffs with Piercing but ACTUAL SPEARS! - Basically this just requires a Spear animation to be added in as many Staffs have points or tines at the end already!}
Tridents and Military Forks {See above}
Slings
Lucerne Hammers {NOT just a Maul with Piercing enabled either!}
Javelins
Oh and for goodness sake can we get Warhammers added to B-Swords and D-Axes for using Two Handed Feats with Shield please!
Most interesting ideas imo are spears and slings,
Slings should have special traits - extra damage to monsters depending on how many size steps a monster is bigger than the player, and hitting small things (rats / kobolds) would give attack bonus penalty depending on size difference.
I believe in age of things such as xbox with kinect there are some cheap ways to motion capture new animations, when updating game many new monsters types have original animations, i dont think few simple attack animations are that painful to make.
