I love how you look sideways and around things to the bigger picture just from your write up of your life and career. That is a fantastic attribute for a producer to have. It bodes really really well for DDO. That and the fact that you came from QA and therefore have a true appreciation for the nitty gritty of how the game goes together... and how much bugs bug us.
Wow. This is a very hopeful note for DDO indeed.

Godfather II
Star Wars: ESB
Honorable mentions: Anything by Sergio Leonie, Spielberg, Scorsese,Woody Allen pre-1990 or Kurosawa. Ang Lee, and Woo get some props too. I like the new guy who is doing Godzilla. Monsters was a very competent film. Let's see if he has the chops.
TV:
Star Wars Clone wars-better than it should be
True Detective-best **** writing in years
Cosmos
Game of Thrones
Whatever the wife is watching.
All time: Trek. and...Trek. Bab5, Space 1999...early CSI,
How does the new Clone Wars compare with the Genndy Tartakovsky version (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361243) ?
I haven't seen the new one, but I liked the old one.
I can't say I care for the look of the new one as much (too CGI), but have been contemplating giving it a chance anyway.
Cannith Server :Vice Sovereign of The Guild of Calamitous Intent
Kalener (Monk) Renelak (backup band) Raoull (Mr. McStabby) Kaleray (laser heals) Kalrah (xbow rogue)
Congrats. It's good to see someone who has obviously been working hard and doing their job reasonably well get promoted. I hope it comes with a major salary increase.

Editted: Almost forgot about 15 years ago or so... In college, the computer lab playing Net Trek - now that game was blast for as limited as the graphics were.

You know you may have a point. Firefly was killed in its prime, if they had kept it going and not crammed the rest of the series into a movie (which I loved btw) it would win hands down. That show should have run for about 5-7 seasons, not 1... *sob*
P.S. The ex-wife loved this one too...

Wow!
That job seems to have a revolving door.
Best of luck to you.
But...
What does this mean for DDO?
Is there a club for all the ex-producers to hang out and commiserate in somewhere?

I don't have a zerging problem.
I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.
World-wide, if you’re talking “longevity”, then “Doctor Who” wins, hands-down. Nothing else even comes close: the original incarnation ran for over 30 consecutive years, and while “DW 2.0” has been on for less than 10, DW just celebrated its 50th anniversary (it premiered on November 23, 1963 – yes, the day after JFK’s assassination. Talk about a ratings killer…).
If you’re talking writing/acting/production, then it’s a question of personal taste. That said, ST:TOS has got to be in the top 5 (if you’ve never read William Shatner’s “Star Trek Memories”, you should). I would also place “B5” up there too. Not sure about what else (well, beside DW, of course), as there are a lot of good shows that died all too quickly. Some honorable mentions:
Stargate: SG-1 – Maybe not “top 5” but I’d put in the “Top 10”. Started out on Showtime, then moved to Sci-Fi (now “Syfy”) – which NEARLY killed it (because they are stupid); while they (Sci-Fi) pioneered “split-seasons”, back then it tended to kill shows because fans didn’t know when it was on. Now, “split-seasons” almost seem the norm – for cable networks. Still not a fan of “split-seasons”.
Red Dwarf – While I’ve not personally see much (if any of it), I have always heard very good things.
Firefly – probably would have done much better if Fox knew how to properly market the show. It was not marketed as “Cowboys in Space” and it should have been. Took me a few episodes to get into it because of the wrong marketing strategy, and just as I was really liking it, they killed it.
Space: Above and Beyond. Another Fox show that was cancelled after 1-year. “Marines in Space”; properly marketed, too, but was killed because of “political reasons”.
Space: 1999 – made by the BBC around the same time as ST:TOS. Definitely had a 60’s vibe to it (more so than even ST:TOS). Under appreciated, in its time.
LEXX – The tag line was something like “Want some strange?” and it was; but it was also pretty good.
Farscape – Sci-Fi original series. I don’t care what anyone else says, it was a good show; perhaps not “Top 5”, maybe not even “Top 10”, but a good show, nonetheless. Sci-Fi, however, doesn’t know how to program and “split-seasons” killed it.
Space Rangers – I would be shocked if anyone even knew what I was talking about. Lasted about 6 episodes, but a fun ride while it lasted.
I’m probably missing quite a few.
BTW, anyone remember a show in the 70’s called “The Starlost”? Not saying it should be listed in any “greatest” list, just curious.
"...At least it tells us they understand our language; they're just not willing to speak to us in it. -Who knew they were French?"
I already said it on the no-no forums, but congrats!
