    Default My Seraph Build FVS\Sorc

I just started the game again after being on Hiatus for more than 4 years...

Looking at all the changes and feeling a little overwhelmed, I decided to do something a little different, and am running a Angel of Vengeance \ Fire Savant Caster. She is a DE and current lvl 8 with a 6Sorc\2FVS split. Was ultimately thinking that I would end up at 12FVS\8Sorc as there is a nice synergy for fire spells between the two. At the current split my damage is one shotting most non elite mobs. Any advice on where to go with this build or should I continue to wing it till I see the broken pieces of it near the end of my leveling?

Any advice is welcomed, and thank you in advance.

I don't know what your goals are with the build, so it's hard to say much. However, the nuke one-shot ability comes from the sorc levels. The SLAs from the sorc enhancements are incredibly powerful in heroic levels. If you want to be a fire nuker, then I would recommend trying 18 sorc / 2 fvs perhaps. The 2 fvs gives you constant stream of temp sp from Just Rewards. However, take this with a huge grain of salt. I've never played a sorc / fvs splash. I'm just hypothesizing based on what I have played. Ultimately, you will probably just need to try what seems best to you, learn from the experience, and then make changes when you true reincarnate the toon. The important thing is to have fun doing it--IMO. You might try searching the caster (sorc or fvs) forums to see if there is a similar build already posted and commented on that you like.
Heroes and Marauders || Static Group Thursdays 8-10 ET & Sundays 7-10 ET || Clyyde (wizard/rogue), Meensc (arcane archer), Nynaave (swashbuckler), Greantun (short monk), Aeropostle (monk)
Former heroes or marauders that we will remember fondly:
Tagez - famous for running off in the wrong direction but always ending up with one of us unwittingly following him.
Argonnessen: Totalle (swashbuckler warlock), Catteras (20 Warlock), Paularubia (18 paladin, 2 fighter sword and board brawler)

    In fact there is:

14 Sorc / 4 FvS / 2 Pally using mostly the magic missile line of spells for lots of Just Reward procs while having no save DC. Of course you can also use Fire-based spells with it as well like Firewall, Fireball and Scorching Ray.

Stick with the 2 FvS levels you have now and go with nothing but sorc levels until you have 14 of them (so you'd be 14/2 at level 16). The game gets tougher around levels 15/16/17, especially if you play on harder difficulties -- enemies have much more health and do much more damage. Having some high level abilities or spells will be really important at that point. The Delayed Blast Fireball spell, which you can get with 14 sorcerer levels, is extremely powerful and can potentially be enough to get you to the heroic level cap.

At that point, you have plenty of options. Just going sorcerer for the remaining levels is not a bad way to go at all -- 18/2 gives you access to 9th level spells while still getting SP regeneration from Favored Soul's Just Rewards. Or you can take another 2 levels of favored soul -- I wouldn't go with more than 4, since that's where the useful enhancements stop, but some people feel that the extra fire/force critical chance and spellpower from tier 3/4 enhancements is worth taking 4. If you're lawful, you could splash 2 monk for evasion and extra feats. If you're lawful good, you could splash 2 paladin for Divine Grace, an ability that lets you add your charisma modifier (which should be very high on a sorcerer) to all your saves -- this is excellent for survivability.

My preferences, in descending order, would be:

    16/2/2 sorcerer/favored soul/paladin
    18/2 sorcerer/favored soul
    16/2/2 sorcerer/favored soul/monk
    16/4 sorcerer/favored soul
    14/4/2 sorcerer/favored soul/paladin
    14/4/2 sorcerer/favored soul/monk

Since you already have the favored soul levels, definitely sticking with fire savant is the way to go. Also invest in force spellpower where you can and take the "missile" spells. Boost the spell critical chance with AoV and be sure to max out the tier 2 AoV enhancement Just Rewards -- it's awesome. I like to also invest 1-5 points in the earth savant tree just to boost acid spells a bit; mostly, you'll use fire and force spells, but two specific acid spells (acid rain and Black Dragon Bolt) are useful enough that it's worth boosting them a bit.

    Also because

Intense Faith: Your Fire, Force, Light, and Physical damage spells are cast at +1/+2/+3 caster level.

So 16 sorc with 4 fvs and this enhancement will cast at level 19

Where 18 sorc with 2 fvs will cast at lvl 18

Sorry, yes, that's the other big advantage to 4 FvS, which I didn't even mention. I meant to, but when I started writing it up I got off on a confusing tangent (basically, that whether or not the caster level increase matters much depends mostly on whether you're going Shiradi or not in epics), and then I deleted it and never went back to replace it with something more reasonable.
