The main forums are simply too clouded with too many diverse views and opinions - they can't read them all. That's why they took a small group that closely mirrors the larger body of players. They can manage it better, and don't have to hear about the same problems over and over.... Now, they simply put out what they want us to know, moderate the forums, instead of doing what they should have done in the very beginning- listen to the broader base. The claim is a new and improved effort to that end, except they are just asking opinions, taking polls, and otherwise doing what they want to do anyway. All smoke and mirrors... Sounds like some of the PC are starting to feel that way themselves.

If you guys want us to take you seriously on this whole "Players Council" thing you need substance - not fanboi's praising DDO for its merits.

Pick a topic we discuss on the forums - lag, new content ideas, capstone enhancement changes, combat techniques, crafting, broken raid loot and 20th reward lists. Pick a new topic each month and get feedback from the Council. Post in a new thread what the topic is, and what some of the highlights of the Players Council has to say about the topic. Give the development team the rest of the month to come up with a solution - do nothing, change x system in x upcoming patch (specific reference of patches - not this "soon" bs you constantly force feed us).

By creating visible dialogue between the Players Council and the development team you build trust. We, the players, can see you are listening to issues we feel are important to the game and can see the development team weigh in on the topics. Some of the stuff we want can't be done because this is an 8 year old game? Fine! Tell us why! You need visible dialogue and communication to build trust. You, as developers, need to be better project managers and set up your milestones for the players to see so we can tell you are prioritizing our needs and not your own.

I do not appreciate being accused of making "PR" for the PC, for those who know me, know that I don't take **** and frankly still disagree with some of the changes the devs have made and what I said was my true thoughts.

@Human Cypher: I always look at the suggestion forums, well almost all of the threads (I usually ignore the guild and market forums)...feel free to have a look I have several threads there...and I doubt any of the council memebers don't look at them...were still just players.

I don't think anyone is accusing you. I personally believe you gave a truthful answer to a question you were asked, that was then turned into a "PR" post specifically designed to look like an effort at transparency.

People are saying it's PR because it doesn't tell us anything we haven't heard since Ex-Prod Rowan's Holiday letter or when he was on the Podcast and most of it (not saying you) was members praising their own PC.

I have no doubt that what you said was your true thoughts. I also have no doubt that your true thoughts can, will, and have been used for PR by turbine.

Thanks, Failedlegend. I'm glad that the Players' Council reads the Suggestions forum. I hope the DDO devs do as well.

    Default Transparency Questions

Considering the details surrounding the PC, this appears to be a focus group. Is it appropriate to expect transparency from a focus group?

If yes, how much transparency should you expect when there is a NDA in place?

The problem is that the main complaint about the LOTRO PC was that for an entire year the only thing anyone heard from it was a youtube video that showed a small subset of the council visiting Turbine, so Cordovan made the claim that DDO would be different and that there would be transparency, but as you pointed out and the update clearly shows, with an NDA in place they can't really say much other than vague feelings on how they think its going. This is nice but it really doesn't tell us anything about what is actually going on.

    AH well nice try.
But its a vague as a pebble lying on moon surface viewed from earth.

I suspect the NDA ruins stuff, so well move along -> nothing to view.
