    Default Shuriken Soul (The kiter star)

    This is a theory build, based on the shiradi shuricannon build, thinking on EE Byoh, don't have the time to try it soon but hope someone could use it as an Idea.

    12 Fvs/6 Monk/2 Paladin

    Halfling/Drow for more dex and dps, Human for better heal amplification for survival

    Key aspects:
    - Sustained ranged dps from shuriken + archon on Shiradi destiny
    - EE useful saves + great self heal and buffs + ranged dmg for survival
    - Great single target heals for back up heals, able to raise with scrolls/spell and give some buffs


    It was thought for epic levels, so leveling order is not done ( could go Monk x2, Fvs x12, Monk x4, Pal x2, could take some twf feats for shortswords on heroic lvls and then change the feats on epics)

    Skills: Umd, heal, concentration (could use ki shout for intim with that) , jump/balance, 1 point tumble

    If 32 pt build could drop 2 points of charisma and wis. About some features choices could switch epic reflex for blinding speed, Ruin or Epic fortitude, also could take maximice spell instead empower healing if that helps archon and shirai procs (also divine punishment). At level 26 and 28 could take toughness, epic spellpower positive or guardian's angel or doubleshot.

    Using Master of ocean stance/master of stone/master storm, could easily reach 65+ saves (70-90 reflex save with no fail on 1), Umd for Fire shield, Greater heroism, tenser's etc.


    Gear Options:
    Weapon: Shuriken (spelltouched, morning star, thunder forge), Off hand (shortsword): Celestia, rebellion, riposte+red augment
    Head: Deadly of resistance 10 or white/black dragon and Sage's skullcap for radiance spellpower
    Armor: Shadowscale, Spider spun Caparison +3 ins dex/wis or white/black dragon
    Rings: 1- Lantern Ring/Sage ring + globe of imperial blood slotted, 2- seal avithoul/dunrobar tendon slice/guardian's ring
    Gloves: Purple dragon knight or gloves of inmortality (+7 con, +200 power)
    Bracers: Dumathoin's Bracers, Dex of dodge or conv 20% of superior parrying or skimisher bracers
    Googles: shadowsight with +2 good luck slotted or guardian glasses
    Boots: Green steel smoke screen (displascement perma blur) or Health 10 of seeking/speed or Goatskin boots Ins cha slotted
    Belt: Fortified 125 of false life
    Trinklet: Planar focus ins wis or dex, Plis, Magestar, shamanic fetish
    Cloak: Cloak of night lvl 24, jeweled cloak, elemental absortions

    With good heal amp from human and some shintao for superb self healing from quickened heal spell, empowered cocoon and ccw, 75% efect. heal scrolls and heal spring. Self cast deathward, Fom, protection from evil and elements, Fireshield, restoration. 25% incorporeal from shadow veil, ~20% dodge, 24-64prr, 800-1100 hp, etc.

    Not a bad idea but i have some concerns with this build:

    - By choosing Human, starting with only 16 DEX and only getting 3 pts of DEX from enhancements you sacrifice a ton of DPS with shuriken for which DEX is by far the most valuable stat. Also the FvS only has a short lived Divine Favor buff spell that boosts shuriken damage a little

    - Using the Archon as a little DPS boost and to proc shiradi procs is generally a good idea but the range of the archon is limited, the rate of shooting very slow, the attacks undirected and the damage low. Also you would have to slot a lot of different spellpower variants to make the archon do noticeable light damage in epics and to make the shiradi procs of the archon at least be boosted considerably by spellpower (which i'm not even sure works with archon shiradi procs) when you are already missing Maximize and Empower. This also makes the FvS light DOT spell a lot less useful. So all in all i'm sure you would do a lot more damage (and save some gearslots) when you would concentrate on throwing more shuriken per minute.

    - Two levels of Paladin for the saves are nice and used by a lot of builds but what you do here is spread the attributes way too thin in my opinion so you have to invest in too many attributes to make it worth. This is probably doable for a completionist but still you also have to find the gear to boost DEX for shuriken procs and damage, WIS for a decent 10k stars, CHA for saves and SP and CON for the HP while not fully neglecting STR and INT (only for skills). And this in addition to have to slot spellpower (devotion, radiance,...) and spellcrits, spellpoints and all the stuff you need for shuriken damage and your defense.

    - You are also missing Blinding Speed and have no easy way to boost attack speed. I can see why you need Epic Reflexes when you are missing Improved Evasion but this additionally drops your DPS considerably too since the DPS and CC value from shiradi procs directly correlates with number of attacks per time frame.

    - Without the Mental Toughness line and only 12 lvl FvS you probably have few spellpoints (and are missing spell crit chances)

    - You are missing the passive Ki regeneration from Contemplation in the Henshin Mystic tree and only list Enlightenment as an optional Twist so you will probably not have much Ki to use Shadow Veil and 10k stars everytime. Not sure if this works out.

    - With a build that has a quickened and Empowered Heal spell i would not waste a twist slot for Cocoon.


    Not everything is about DPS and minmaxing of course and if it is still fun to play i would give it a go but since this is only a theory build i would test it first and see what you really can fit into it in the end and which things you can't and if this all turns out as you would like. As a fun build with moderate support heals and buffs and moderate damage while in a party this will surely work out.

(The maximice feat could be a good option instead empower healing if that helps enough to dps with archon and light spells with shiradi)

    - About paladin levels, this build already have good saves just with fvs/monk, but with some easy invest with gear you can reach 30+ cha for extra 10+ saves that could be really useful in EE content. (For example the sage ring gives +8 Cha and Wis plus 92 spellpower with yellow slot that could easily fit for this build).

    -The blinding speed feat is definitely the next option to epic reflex. I could use speed gear like Goatskin boots to help a bit the lacking of haste but for ranged attack speed it seems to be not as useful as it does for meele attack speed, but should have to test it on live before deciding what feat to take. Ruin Feat is another good option for boss dps with some force spell power/lore slotted.

    - Henshin enhancements and contemplation are definitely an option and can be taken just dropping shintao enhancements if you want more passive ki generation and +3 will saves instead +3 fortitude, ki shout and some heal amp.

    - Empowered Coccoon with the heal amp of this build should be great, should be the main heal source for sp efficiency, also for healing others, leaving quickened heal between cooldown or emergencies. Also this build should easily have 2500+ spell points with gear and considering it almost doesn't spend sp for dps, you have plenty of sp for heals.

    This build should work better with groups (duo or shortman included) as you said ( a great back up kiter/tank, raiser, divine buffer, single target healer with some decent sustained dps and cc), that also should be able to solo at least epic hard and easy epic elite content without much problem.

    Updated the post with new planner, thanks. As far as I know, Ninja capstone is not fixed yet for shurikens, and even without it, the trade off you get with saves, buffs and heals seems viable to me. (But Halfling should be taken into account if have fixed the threat range for shurikens, even with just sneak damage and extra saves it is a very good option.

    Don't get me wrong. I really like the build idea and of course it is always good to have some solid healing, cures and buffs.

    I still sincerely doubt that you can reach at least 90% of the damage that a shuricannon can as you claim:

    With everything else the same a shuricannon is 10 (+11*) points of DEX ahead of this build (4 starting, 4 enhancements, 2 from ED)(Four of those you can temporarily compensate with Tenser's). That translates to +5 attack and damage, 2*10=20% (+22%*) better chance to throw a shuriken and +5 reflex save among other things. *(Actually i can reach +11 more DEX since i use a Greater DEX feat instead of the Combat Archery feat at lvl 24 nowadays since i can reach max dodge without it)

    Add to that +4 attack and damage from Drow Xendrik Weapon Training and at least +5 points per attack (actually more) from vorpal which all together is at least +14 points of base damage already.

    With a base physical damage in the mid to end 60's with my build you would only be in the early 50's so the shuricannon already does about 20% more base damage with every single shuriken and additionally has a 20% (22%) better chance to throw extra shuriken. This better chance is heightened by the Doubleshot feat (lvl 28) which translates down to at least 2.5% better chance to throw an additional shuriken after taking the 10k stars debuff into account.

    On top of that the shuricannon gets additional damage from Venomed Blades which synergizes with the poison vulnerability from Sting of the Ninja.

    Also you can only reach a permanent BAB of 19 at lvl 28. Since every full 5 points of BAB give you a faster attack animation the shuricannon makes faster attacks already.

    That is all amplified by the additional attack speed from Blinding Speed (+22% attack speed or at least 7% more attack speed than EE Goatskin Boots).

    The higher shuriken proc chance as well as the higher attack speed directly amplify the overall CC and damage from Shiradi procs and spelltouched damage.

    From Twists i either get an additional +1 DEX and 1d6 Sneak attack damage (EotA:Shadowdancer) or 30% more damage to helpless mobs (Sense Weakness) which both you don't consider in your list.

    If you are on par with 10k stars depends on if you can really fit all the attribute gear permanently into your final gear layout and if you will have enough passive Ki regeneration to spam it everytime next to shadow veil.


    Considering defenses you are not necessarily ahead. The shuricannon has better than 160 AC in water stance already (quite meaningful in EE, above 180 in mountain stance when tanking), Improved Evasion, maximum dodge (28%), the quite potent Deflect Arrows Feat, the highest Spell Resistance from drow enhancements as well as +5 reflex save from higher DEX, +3 WILL (Contemplation) and +2 to all saves from Bulwark of Defense and +1 to all saves from grandmaster water stance. So with +10 saves from CHA you are only much better with Fort and Will saves and you have to invest into CHA for that (with an EE Jeweled Cloak in my permanent gear layout and already great saves i usually don't have to worry about enemy spells). Also it has a higher run speed and abundant step for kiting and reaching safe spots, is immune to Hold Person spells and most poisons and has 10 DR/Epic.

    With only up to Tier 5 Spells available (the Tier 6 slot being occupied with Heal) the useful FvS buffs come down to FoM, Aid, Nightshield and True Seeing (which i all get through gear), Protection from Elements, Divine Favor as well as maybe Recitation and Prayer which mostly don't stack with luck items.


    Anyway...as i said DPS is not everything and if this really works out that's quite fine. In the end all that is essential is that the build can live up to its expectations and is fun to play. I just wanted to express some concerns and since this is a theory build would test what you can really squeeze into gearslots and consider taking drow which already comes with high INT, CHA and DEX and some more benefits for shuriken (the human bonus feat is compensated by the free shuriken expertise feat).

    Good points about extra shuriken chance from more dexterity (20% extra shuriken seems something). I'm not much convinced about extra 7-8% attack speed from blinding and more BAB giving much dps, the extra base damage seems good but not crucial (I would say less than 9 base damage difference considering vorpal from capstone doesn't give base damage and divine favor compensate 3 base dmg to the difference) (also the archon with radiance spellpower in shiradi should compensate a bit the base dmg difference), considering a big part of the dps comes from shiradi procs, helpless dmg, some sneak attack and weapon effects with a high rate of attacks per second.

    About twists, Sense of weakness and echoes of ancestors are good for dps (I would take Sense of weakness for trash dps), I didn't listed it but definitely can be twisted if looking more dps over survival.

    About charisma bonus to saves I said 10+ (10 or more extra saves easily) but actually you can easily get 14 base+4 tome+ 13 gear (10 item+ 2 ins+1 exc)+ 2 ship+ 1 enhancement= 34 , +12 more saves at end level, getting over 70 with the 3 saves (80+ reflex) with the right gear in ocean stance (angelic resistance enhancement also can give +3 saves).

    About defenses, having empowered coccon for around 200+ a tick, quickened heal for probably more than 900 hp per heal, empowered quickend Ccw for 250+, and heal scrolls for 400+, with 70+ saves and 167% fortification, Deathward, Fom, protections, with jeweled cloak/energy absortion and Plis, seems the best you can get in the game for a fleshy defenses considering you are with range dmg all the time. That is for the toughest fights and probably over invested for many other content. The shuricannon should hardly have a not quickened cocoon for hardly 90 heal per tick and also would be hard to get 40 umd for no fail heal scrolls without sacrificing gear for umd. Obviously survival depends a lot on player skills and being ranged all the time is enough for most of the content, but in some tough fights or much aggro situation being able to instant heal from 3 or more diferent sources can help not only on survival but also on dps without much running back.

    In conclusion, I would go human if max survival and less dps, but now im thinking in going Halfling for more dexterity and dps (Crit range when fixed), more saves but 1 less feature that could be empower healing, then drow for dps and empower healing.
